I bought one for my Archos AV700 and because it sticks out of the unit at a perpendicular angle it snapped clean off. So I now have to buy another one as well as writing a long letter to Archos.

Unfortunately it's a necessary evil if you want to use the AV functions of the unit.

Archos 604 - Wifi 30GB Portable Media Player

Having keenly arranged to receive a 604 for my birthday I decided to chip in the extra 50 quid and uprgrade to the WIFi, which I must add is only necessary if you need wireless internet otherwise it isnt really necessary. The kit is brilliant, the screen gorgeous, but I will struggle to ever again purchase an Archos product due to the ridiculous amount of software, extras and plug-ins I have had to buy:

1. Screen protector £5
2. MP4 converter for Mac £16
3. AVI- M-PEG4 plug-in another £13
4. The DVR dock which I got a good deal on £50
5. The wall charger another fiver

And you might think I am being silly buying all this but the screen protector is obvious, the MP4 converter is necessary ... Read More:

i was given the archos504 one year ago for christmas and i watched the tailers on it. it gave my tv a run for its money and so i put some high quality videos on it. i used it on abroad trips. it was a great. i could store a lot of music on the 80gb hard drive. i couldn't fill it all up. with everything on full settings the mp3 playback lasted over 17hrs and on video 5.4 hrs. with an extra battery bought from archos offical web site and a travel doking adaptor- its great if your stuck on a coach for 25hrs. the archos also comes with a very strong case which will help with hold a 1-2 meter drip.
now the ipod classic is out i think the archos is better because its screen is bigger and has a better reselution. the battery ast long and you ... Read More:

this is the best piece of musical equipment i have ever bought, it plays full movies, music video's and has a much better sound quality and battery life than the ipod. I love it to pieces and would reccomend this product to anyone. Its amazing and so easy to use.... like the look of this product?.... buy it. When choosing between an ipod video and a zen, i would definatly choose a zen as the battery on my video ipod only lasted six months, iv had my zen for a year and a half, its still going strong and looks the same as the day i bought it. I hope this review has helped you make your decision.... thanks for your time x

Limited functionality makes it difficult to reach your preferred tracks.

Quite large for an mp3 player, and prompted my virus scanner to "go ape" when I first plugged it in. If you buy one be sure your PC security is up to date!
