This RD-59 radio is excellent for lightweight/portable DAB reception due to it's diminutive dimensions and economical power consumption.

However, considering this is meant to be a portable radio I have 3 (admittedly fairly minor) gripes :

1. It could have done with being supplied with a protective carry-case (especially as the finish of the case is quite shiny !).

2. A small pull-out stand at the back so it can be seated at an angle securely would have been handy (when sat on any uneven surface it has a tendency to fall over very easily).

bought this to use as radio/ speaker system for my ipod. loved the sound of it (it goes very loud and is smooth sounding without being boxy, and has deep controlled bass). i wasn't sure where i was going to put it in my house as i have many other stereos in various rooms, but this decision was made extremely easy after the first night of trying to use it as a bedside radio (it does have a built in alarm/ sleep modes, so this would seem to be an intended use for it). the problem is this: i like to listen to the radio as i am going to sleep, but this is ruined by the display....it is bright enough to light up the room! you have various choices - turn the radio away from you so the light is not shining directly into your eyers (but then you can't ... Roberts Splash Proof Radio

I bought this radio to use in my bathroom hoping that the signal quality would be much better than the £10 shower radios that you get as a Christmas present. Its a hundred times better and picks up all stations available in my area where as before I could only pick up one or two in the bathroom.
Its digital with 5 presets in each band, has a clock and battery level indicator. It sounds fine for use in a bathroom and the buttons all feel nice to the touch.
A big bonus is that its wall mountable and white.
Its a great little radio as bathroom radios seem to be few and far between on the market.
Its a little pricey but should last for years to come.
