Bought this to replace a broken (different) one; use it in the bathroom for those long dips in the tub. Used it a couple of times and it does the job, simple as that.
Only use the wind up function and it holds the charge longer than the old radio used to, I presume this is due to technology advancing, so I get more radio time for my exertions!

You know when you stand outside the room the music's coming from and you wonder what might be playing it? The first time I did that, it was my parents' 1960s HMV stereo radiogram - five feet wide with big elliptical speakers at either end and a valve receiver in the middle. The cabinet was made out of wood, there was plenty of metal and not a sign of plastic - a bakelite knob here and there - but that was about it.
The sound was euphonic rather than pure hi-fi. But the Top 40 on a Sunday night sounded good. The bass rumbled away, voices soared out of the cabinetry and Tommy Vance seemed as if he was, if not exactly in the room, at least very close by. It was the best that Patsy Gallant ever sounded.
This is in theory a useful ipod add-on which is in reality a poor bit of kit. It picks up a signal okay for me so I've given it two stars however there were a series of major flaws which became clear while using it.
1) Power usage - power is expended at a frightening rate. I was able to get 4 hours from my fully charged ipod touch. I felt this was poor.
2) The gizmo would not allow me to turn off the auto back lighting and i found that every 2-3 minutes even when stationary the gizmo would light up my ipod like an xmas tree needlessly expending lots of power. There was no way of stopping this happening even by playing about with the ipod settings.
3) The gizmo wire which runs into the ipod is way too long leaving lots of loose ... Read More:

This clock has aspirations of being a quality device, and it certainly has alot good things going for it. But for me the low pitch background noise makes it totally unacceptable, at low volumes its very off putting. Also like with the Pure Chronos II, the screen illuminates the room even at low levels, and the volume control is not fine enough, I had the problem of not being able to get it to the right volumes to fall asleep too.

My iconic Sony Digicube has woken me every day for three decades. But it turned 30 this year and was promptly killed by my two year-old. I chose this Tempus-1S over other alternatives because it's compact and attractive, with a wide range of features. You can pay more for the XT version but I have to say I couldn't see what the extra money was really for. With this I can plug in my iPod which is great, the alarms are easy to set, the clock dims well at night and, of course, the sound is excellent. The SnoozeHandle on the top is great and it does two extra things: if you have the display set to full screen clock, the handle brings up the radio station and date if touched while the radio is playing; and at night when the radio is off, touching the SnoozeHandle ... Like most Logitech devices, the Squeezebox Duet is attractive, sleek and very intuitive. It looks good anywhere and the convenience of listening to music out of any entertainment center from files stored on your computer are fantastic. The sound is as clear as you can expect as well.
However, there are some things you need to know about the Squeezebox Duet set-up before you buy. Your computer needs to have wi-fi or a router connected to it. If you use a direct DSL cable (Ethernet cable), you also need an Ethernet cable in the room where your entertainment center is (My computer is in my office and my entertainment center is in my living room). The only other option is to run a cable through your walls between you computer and entertainment center, which ... Read More:
I have used many different remote presenters and settled on the Logitech brand based on positive feedback from conference venues. The Logitech fits comfortably in the hand and is a sensible size - many are too small and fiddly. The device is easy to install and use. I found that my fingers naturally fall to the advance/return buttons and all controls are designed so you can identify them easily by touch and without having to look at the device. The laser pointer is excellent and the timer a useful addition that is very straight forward to programme. The device comes in a smart velcro fastened case and the USB transmitter snaps inside the controller making it ideal for slipping in a laptop bag and transporting around. If you're looking for a simple to use, practical and functional ... Read More:

I found the headphone socket is not of the same high quality as the rest of the unit. You have to play arround with it to get it to work and it tends to jam. Mechanicially its not solid. I used Dell and Sennheiser phones, both had problems.
As a general grip about Alarm/Radios including this one. They all seem to be designed to cut the alarm sound over to the headphones when inserted. To my mind the alarm should always be on the speakers regardless of the use of headphones. Otherwise you are probably going to miss it!

I've had mine for a few months now. The set up is easy, no probs there. The display is a bit bright for my tastes, BUT the principal flaw would seem to be that every now and again, it cancels its own alarm! Twice this has happened to me - the first time I slept in, but today I was awake, heard it go on and looked at it - and saw it turn the radio off and the display read "alarm cancelled." I've no idea why. I've emailled PURE about it as obviously I have no idea if this is a recurring fault or a faulty machine. It would seem to be an occasional fault (shame because it's an absolutely excellent radio otherwise) but for an alarm clock, a pretty serious one.
PS. Have now had word back from PURE and they say my machine is faulty - so if you have this problem too, get back in touch ... Read More:
