Philips SBC HC8300 FM Cordless Headphones

I have had a set of these headphones for a while now. When bought they were one of only a few on the market.
The good points are,

1. The price for them is fair.

2. The sound quality is good.

3. The headband is ajustable to get a good fit for your head.

The main bad points are

1. I found that you need the volume on the tv/stereo turned up nearly full for the quality of the sound to be good, without it turned up the headphones crackle, but you can turn the volume down on the headphones so that isn't too much of a problem. This may be the same for all FM headphones, but i'm not sure

I recently purchased these headphones, and in the end I sent them back and upgraded to some better ones, they are simply very poor indeed. I found they only worked effectively if positioned slightly above and in absolutely straight line of sight, if you move even just a tiny bit - for example moved your head left or right - you would get static. Basically if you want some cordless headphones you would be much much better off getting some proper FM ones rather than these second rate IR ones. You can get FM ones for about £10 more, and thats money much better spent.

Ordered the 'phones before reading the reviews thank goodness, otherwise I may not have purchased. If the instructions are faithfully followed the performance is exceptional, far better than standard speaker systems. In orchestral pieces every group of instruments can be heard. In Choral works the sound is phenomenal and the clarity has to be heard to be believed. Can only think that earlier reviewers either got a duff set or didn't set them up correctly. Suggest they follow the troubleshooting procedures. If considering purchasing try and hear them first with similar set up to your own Hi Fi. Incidentally, they work well with TV as well.

I was a bit dubious about buying these, as i read so many bad reviews about wireless headphones and the background noise that you supposedly get, but i took a chance on these as they had the best reviews. And i am well pleased! They are so comfortable to wear, the elastic headband fits to anyones head and the ear cushions are really soft! The range is fantastic, i had the transmitter up in my room and locked myself in a sound proof room next to my garage at the other side of my house with double thick walls and could still hear clearly! Even at the end of the garden it was still clear.
