This CD was issued to accompany the tour of English Cathedrals and Abbeys by the ensemble. The CD is superbly recorded to capture echoes and the placing of groups of instruments round the churches. It needs repeated listening as it is not easy listening by any means. The appearance of a well-known Bach theme is a wonderful moment; truly spine tingling

WHAT CAN I SAY! about this band? They are quite simply the new Busted. Move over McFly, Acoustic Triangle are the new kids in town. I am a close personal friend of Gwilym Simcock (having gone to school with him for for the best years of my life). However he kicked me out of acoustic triangle because "the bands musical direction doesn't need a drummer" Everyone needs a drummer!!!! The only flaw in this album is the lack of a good solid drum beat. Just look at me, now-touring with my band The Rotten Tomatoes. Watch out acoustic triangle we want to steal your saxophonist Tim Garland for his amazing melodies carry this album especially on tracks such as Solo Piano Interlude, From the Land and Ritual. Taking Eastern Europe by storm, this album ... Read More:

For me, the recording qualitys pretty good and theres a clear open soundstage.
I agree that the George Shearing written Shakespeare melodies are the highlight.
They should have done another take of The Heavenly Aeroplane. The timing between choir/orchestra all goes to pot and becomes cringworthingly bad in my opinion.
The arrangement of the Lord of the Dance is enjoyable though

This concert has some fine playing by John Horler and Malcolm Creese and it contains some of my best.
John's compositions are a joy and I think that 'Body and Soul' stands up well with the many other versions.

Thanks Acoustic Triangle for stealing our lead singer Gwilym...NOT...I'll be pressing charges at a later date....but in the meantime this is a fantastic album. Possibly based on the chemistry between myself and Gwilym, this self-proclaimed album is the best thing in my life since I captured Charmander on Pokemon Blue. As a former friend and bandmate of Gwilym, I must admit that this album is probobly the best ever made by a band with the ambition and sexual chemistry between the leading members sometimes making the hairs on the back of my neck itch with a warm sense of belonging. That was the longest sentence I've ever written. This is infact relevant as it was Gwilym himself who taught me how to read in a coffee shop back in 1982. I believe this is ... Read More:

If you are not familiar with the Matt Wates sextet then listen up.Matt is an alto sax man heavily influenced by Cannonball Adderley with his hard swinging, lyrical style. The band won't break any new ground from a creative point of view but this c.d is pure listening pleasure. All compositions are by Matt himself and he shows origionality and variety with some catchy swinging melodies.Standout tracks are "funny that" with a killer flute solo from Andy Panayi,"between the lines" where you can close your eyes and imagine yourself on that train with it's gently swinging melody and "lucky socks" where there are strong solos from all band memebers. If you like your jazz straight ahead and swinging then "between" the lines is the c.d for you.If you hav'nt ... Read More:
