Being a stout ABBA fan from their glory days after winning the Eurovision with Waterloo I tread carefully when being injected with any take-off of their music. However no reserve needs putting in place in my opinion as this just comes across as feel good Abba one hundred per cent. Obviously we're never going to get the vocal range that Abba had but for feel good, solid enjoyment, love of music, crowd appreciation, this delivers one hundred and ten per cent. Abba appeal to all generations and will never lose their appeal. Be surprised if you don't find yourself joining in as it's hard to resist! Was surprised at some of the tracks missing from the film following the stage show but ultimately Abba haven't made a bad record so wasn't too bothered.

Didn't think much of the tunes when I first heard them, which is always a good sign. After a few listenings it's suddenly just come alive. Ecellent!
And to think that these guys have been away (as The Verve, of course), for over a decade, I think it's time to ask 'where the hell have you been'?
'Forth' took me by surprise. I HAVE read many negative reviews about this album, believe me (including some on here), but reviews mean opinions. Simple as that.
There are some absolute corkers on here, including the rousing 'Love Is Noise' in particular. I understand how it could put some people off with its different vocals (you know what I mean), but this is The Verve, and this is bloody good.
Ten tracks span over 65 minutes and it's fair to say that you get value for money, although some tracks maybe could have been a bit shorter. 'Noise ... Read More:

This is one of the first albums in a while i've been tempted to buy due to the fact that i love the 2 singles the script have released. They are so catchy and beautifully written, i just have to praise them for those two songs alone. I was truly blown away by this astounding debut album and have it had it on repeat ever since. I find it hard to pick a favourite but for me it is probably fall for anything or the end where i begin however breakeven, rusty halo and talk you down are right up there too. Their lyrics are just so true and i can certainly relate to them. On hearing their album i booked tickets to see the script in november and i am soooo excited. I never normally go to the effort of writing a review but on this rare occasion i think everyone deserves to hear what ... Read More:

This compilation album needs little introduction as it has sold a zillion copies or something ;), and there is a reason for that. Nobody, not even The Beatles have created a finer collection of pop songs. Pop is often sneered at by some hoity toity music lovers, but there is no need. A finely crafted 3 minute pop tune can be just as meaningful and exquisite as any other piece of music. The tunes Bjorn & Benny created will live on forever, and the girls singing stays in your mind so very easily.
For me this is not their ultimate collection, as I liked more of the bitter-sweet songs they did like Eagle and The Day Before You Came. But that's a personal preference. This compilation contains all the biggest hits, including some of the camp/hi-nrg stuff that can be ... Read More:

The murky world of folk purists is a place I would never dare to venture but as a fan of folk music, this is a perfect mix of a rockier roots-sound and folky laments and shanties.
In fact....that intro sounds a little too folky already,Lakeman has carved a career out of sterling tunes, traditional instruments and clever lyrics, with "Poor Mans Heaven" he has bettered his 2006 classic "Freedoms Fields".
The feel to this LP is heavier, more robust but the mandolins, violins and acoustic guitars still dominate, the upright bass and acoustic drums form a bedrock of cornish granite.
2008 has seen some great folk records and Lakeman has added an other to that list...!
