Let It Go
This is a brilliant CD, Will has excelled himself again and there isn't one track that I don't like. I bought it on the strength of Changes, but all the tracks are great. I just keep playing it over and over in the car as loud as my son can put up with.

This stuff is interesting but its not up to the standard of the original 3 volumes. 1-3 had numerous brand new tracks; but here we get just 3 or 4 decent new songs sandwiched between some unsatisfactory preliminary versions, random live tracks numerous work-in-progress recordings.
It really feels more like a friend has made you a Dylan mix tape than an official release, though the marketing boys have made a lovely box for it. I would say that there is actually just one discs's worth of exciting new material spread over the 3 available discs.
It would have much better to release a fairly recent live set such as the famous supper club performances...they clearly have the tapes as one song sneaks on here. Anyone familiar ... Read More:

When I first heard 'Mercy' I didn't like it because I thought the background riff sounded too much like the one from 'Stand By Me' and, for me, it didn't quite work. Also, it is too easy to compare the latest female singing sensation to Dusty Springfield or Amy W which isn't fair on anyone concerned. Then I heard 'Warwick Avenue' and my interest was piqued (I had just split up with someone who lived in that part of London). Still I was waiting for something more.
Then I head 'Stepping Stone' and I knew I was going to buy this album, and I have not regretted it one bit. In fact, I think I like some of the album tracks better: 'Serious' is what the Supremes might have sounded like had they gone disco, smooth and funky with all the right squeals; ... Read More:

Forget Dave Lister, Chris Martin is the ultimate egg chilli-chutney sandwich guy. He sings through his nose, his albums contain more filler than a B&Q superstore, and he looks like he'd be more at home with a back-pack than a microphone, yet put it all together and it works; Coldplay are one of the biggest rock bands in the world, and he's married to Princess Gwen. Who cares if he makes the odd duff album?
Don't get me wrong, I loved Parachutes and A Rush of Blood was okay, so following universal aclaim for this album, I ignored the ultra pretentious title and sleeve and gave it a go. At first it sounded rather tedious, but I hoped things would improve after a few plays. In fairness they did, it went from tedious to so-so. Nothing to add to that ... Read More:

I wasn't sure whether i would like this album as i bought it without even hearing a single song off it, the cover did it for me, i don't know why but it's just a beautiful image and i imagined that any music contained within would be just as good. The music fits that image well. Out of the whole album there is only one song i'm not too keen on but it's certainly not a bad song, the rest i loved on the first listen through and that's a very rare thing for me. I really don't understand people giving this bad reviews, you will not regret buying this.

First off, i'm not commenting on this as a re-release or whatever, as it is the only Rihanna cd i own. I'd never delved into Rihanna (metaphorically or physically) until Umbrella caught my attention - it is an absolute cracker! And hearing her namedropped a lot, i invested when i found Good Girl... on sale. What a dissappointment! I'm sorry, but people who rave about this album are either pre-pubescent or musically inept. There are two outstanding trax, Umbrella and Cry (whose piano part I have spent some time improvising on and am still mesmerised by), with Please Don't Stop The Music and Shut Up And Drive being decent runners up. the rest is jus cheap or, at best, quirky filler. Nice cover design tho... (and off course, those eyes!)

I was so looking forward to this second album as Blake's first album was superb and remains one of my all time favourites. However, on first listening, my high expectation diminished rapidly. Some of the songs that were chosen were monotonous in the extreme when just sung as ballads, ie Chasing Cars which was brilliant as a 'pop' song but is not meant to be a ballad and the same with the Katy Mellua song. The "Lassie" song conjures up the dog every time I hear it. Heaven can wait was brilliant as a rock ballad, but not 'sung' by classic voices.
Gone were the wonderful harmonies that made the first album so gorgeous, to be replaced by solo performances that, despite being well sung, didn't lift me to the heights of ecstacy like the first album.

i cant believe i hear this album now! having recently bought the brilliant Leaders Of The Free World I wanted to discover Elbow. Then I listened to Cast Of Thousands next which i included in my top 10 album list. but then I listened to this album and I was totally knocked off my feet! I just love it. this is music! reading other reviews I was deeply dissapointed they were compared to other bands. some of the reviews which compare elbow to say coldplay would have put off buying this record. If u like music then get all the albums by Elbow. Another band I thought I should recommend is I Am Kloot.
