VTech Dora the Explorer Laptop

I Bought this as a Christmas present for my neice. I knew she liked Dora so that was a plus already. When she unwrapped it she screamed her head off because she had wanted it for ages but her parents couldn't afford it. Anyway she was 3 years old and was starting school the next year. Now she is 5 and everytime I see her she speaks to me in Spanish. She says 'Ola' and 'Gracias' She can even say thankyou and Your Welcome. I Reccomend this to all the little kids out there that are aged 3 - 7 years old. The other review about the screen being black and white.. well I ont think it matters. You can still see it and the keyboard is fine because the school my neice ad daughter go to they teach the kids Capital and small letters so anyone could understand ... Read More:

My 5 year old was given this as a present and he loves it. He very quickly worked out that you need to have a complete circuit and he happily makes different circuits to do different things. With a bit of explanation he understands what is going on so can trouble shoot on his own. It is so easy to pop together that there is no reason why younger children cannot benefit - particularly with a bit of adult help.

A friend bought the Playtime Bus for our daughter's first birthday and it has been in constant use ever since. Catchy tunes and noises provide entertainment now and the quizzes and games give her something to 'grow into'. Also good to simply push around. Recommended.

this is a great game for the 3-5 year old ! Fairly simple to understand but interesting to even those older than stated age group ( husband said he should have bought ME the game as I spent nearly as much time playing it as son did ). We have the Thomas the Tank game and this one so far and I like this one best.. so does he !

My son is barely 5 and has been struggling putting sounds together to make words. we have only had this game less than a week and he can read and spell so much better. He guesses at unknown words that he would normally not even attempt. He has even gone up a level in his school reading books, this has given him some much needed confidence. We have 14 leapster titles and this is definitely one of the best.

THIS GAME IS GREAT BUT MY SON IS 4 1/2 AND STRUGGLED WITH MANY PARTS OF THIS GAME. HE KNOWS HIS LETTERS AND NUMBERS BUT THIS GOES FURTHER BY NEEDING THE CHILDREN TO KNOW SIMPLE SUMS, WHAT MATERIAL THINGS ARE MADE OF (EG. PLASTIC, METAL, PAPER) SO IF YOUR CHILD HAS NOT REACHED THIS LEVEL STICK WITH THE 3-5 YEAR OLD GAMES!

I got this for my two year old Nephew for Christmas. For the price it is a great toy, as it is possible to learn new words, reinforce colour and shape concepts as well as become familliar with letters and time concepts. Placing the animals in tells their name or a fact about them and when removed their sound is made which is good fun and allows children to practice animal sounds. There are know moving parts on the animals which means that they are less fun to play with. The train is a bit of a disappointment with only the engine and know carriages,, it would be nice if the train could have recognized the animals, but playing the alphabet song when the train is pushed over the track is fun.
