The bumbo seat is made of a strong, foam based substance and gives when pressed. When baby sits in it, the design of the bumbo and baby's own body weight supports them in a sitting position. Baby needs to be able to support their head. My son seems happy in it for short periods - he may get more used to it as time goes on - but is happier in his bouncy chair. However I would highly recommend the bumbo as a useful aid when feeding baby, before they can sit in a high chair. I wouldn't dream of leaving my son alone it - I can see ways that he could get out of it, by leaning backwards or forwards, especially as he gets bigger. I purchased this chair because i have large babys that usually reach the chairs limits before the age the chair is for.
I thought it would be strong but was deeply disappointed. Definately not the normal quality I expected from FP. The seems in the chair are tearing already and my son is only 4mths.
At birth there wasnt enough support so i would purchase a head support to use as my son slumps in to one side when a baby.
The vibration fuction is noisy and can become annoying at times.
This is a 5th child and this is definately money wasted as mine is now having to be replaces already.

I bought this for my son when he was 10 months old. I have used it on many occasions but I am starting to find that my son (now 11 months) is not very well supported in it and leans to one side. On the positive side it folds up very small and is very lightweight, so is perfect to take out and about with you.

my eldest went into this when he was almost 2 and at the age of 4 1/2 he is still using it, so we bought another one second hand (as not longer available new) for his little brother who went straight into it at the age of 6 months! we love the design, it is so adaptable and easy to clean and takes up so little space compared to the highchair we bought for my eldest which ended up in the dump as we couldn't clean it properly. would recommend it to anyone!

I love this. It's a fantastic little chair and in the 5-6.5 month period where he was too small for the high chair we bought it was highly used with the table.
The strange little toy thing that slots into the table still amuses him, and at 9 months the chair is still occasionally good for him to sit in when having a quiet moment.
However, for the past month he's also been using it as a climbing device (just the right height for him to scale his gate and my desk it seems) so I think that for his safety the cute little chair will be going into the loft.
I know of people who have babies who enjoy sitting and looking at books, rather than clambering and stealing mummy's office supplies, who are still using the chair at 18 months. If ... Read More:

Read the reviews - thought 'great' and bought one. Tried it on my chair at home (old style rounded back) and it did not fit securely. Have since tried it on other straight back chairs and it does fit extremely well and is very handy to take anywhere. Would recommend it - just be careful of round back chairs.

I bought this item thinking it would be easier to clean than a highchair with all its nook and crannies but unfortunately while my son loves to sit in it after two uses it looks filthy. I have surface washed it but because it is made out of nylon and cannot ne immersed in water it is very stained and looks terrible. I am very disappointed. This product would be much better if it was made out of a PVC material that food could be wiped off easily. It will be even worse when taken on travels as sometimes cleaning amentities are limited and this does not wipe clean easy.
