This was a favourite game of mine growing up and I was excited to get this for my daughter. However, it is now incredibly flimsy - the plastic pieces fall out all the time, the cards pop out which is so disappointing. They still enjoy playing the game as much as we did, but I spend a lot of time putting it back together. By the way, I have 2 girls, who are not rough with toys! When I buy a replacement (I am sure I will have to, this is just not going to last) it will be from a supermarket - they all have their own versions. This isn't worth paying any extra for.

My daughter received this as a gift for her sixth birthday. As her sister is only one, we have only played twice (as we can only play when sister is sleeping) and although it is very enjoyable, I suggest you grin and bear it as the game can go on quite long and do not try and win to get it over quickly, as I am still labelled a 'cheater'. This game is educational, not too boring for the playing adult but can go on for a loooongish time.

My boyfriend was bought this as a present when he changed career to train as a doctor. We thought it was a pretty funny joke gift but that was all - didn't expect it would be fun to actually play as adults. How wrong we were! It was brought out one evening over Christmas (after we'd had a few sherries!) and proved to be hilarious. Try keeping your hand still after you've had a few and you'll see what I mean! It brought out the competitive nature of some of the guys in the room too, who couldn't help getting frustrated with their inability to use tweezers (women have an advantage here!) and mocking each other for repeatedly setting off the buzzer. We bought one of these classic toys for our 7 year old. It was great for a couple of weeks until the vertical movement jammed. We sent off for a new one from the suppliers but it never arrived. Took three follow up phone calls and an extremely irate fax to get any response from the suppliers who finally supplied a new one nine months after the first one broke!

The quality of new models is not as good as the ones I remember when I was a kid. The plastic is not as strong and is more brittle. It can be cracked if dropped. The mechanism is not as good either. The knobs are more difficult to hold because they're smaller (not just because I'm older!) and are not as smooth in use.

Doctor Who Uno

This one was an immediate hit with my son who is just eight. The downside is I am now playing games of Uno every night before going to bed, as his treat. The upside is tactically he is getting very good and has started beating me regularly. It does require even the grown up brain to be in gear, but games last only a few minutes - even a long fought out vicious game is only about fifteen minutes. And you can play it sitting up in bed.
