If you need to keep a 6 year old little girl quite for about 5 hours, get her one of these. She snuggles up into the corner of the sofa, and after about 20 minutes has worked out the whole damn thing, and then she plays happily on it for hours. It was only when she went to bed thatI got a go and it took me a while to get the hang of it, but when I did I quite enjoyed it, and it really is amazing how quickly an hour passes! A bit expensive for what it is, but to buy that silence on a long car journey, or to enable you to get the hoovering done ~ it's worth it.

We bought this for my daughter when she was 5 and she loved using it, we went on to buy several other games (Ariel's Undersea Adventures, Cinderella and Scoobie Doo) all have been very entertaining and I would say they have helped with her numeracy and literacy in a very positive but undemanding way. HOWEVER!!! The first console died (one month before the warranty ran out, but we'd lost the receipt!) and the replacement that we then purchased has now also died with the same symptoms - you tried to turn it on and although on occassions it might have made an effort, more often than not it did not, resulting in an upset child. Some people rave about these supposedly realistic robotic puppies, which, now we have our own, has lead me to spend a long time on the internet trying to discover if this really is 'all it does'. Unfortunately for us, i think it is. We got it for my 8 year old who had been taken in by the TV adverts. He was bored with it within approximately 20 minutes. My 5 year old finds it a little bit more entertaining, but not an awful lot to be honest. The dog walks around (can not actually walk sideways, despite the box's claims), barks and whines, does a few 'tricks', and that really is it. I was given this as a gift as I have always wanted one but could not convince myself to spend the kind of money it was priced at. That was a couple of years ago now and it has come out to play no more than twice. what a disappointment. As previous reviews state, the roboraptor does not run, but wobbles, and even if it does get a purchase it doesnt seem to move that far. The instructions were not really any help and I have only seemed to get it to work in demo mode most of the time. My daughter played with it for an hour and then got fedup. she complained that it didnt seem to follow the light from the handset as it states it should. The only good bits are the sensors in the mouth, chin and tail. It also has great sound effects and it is quite comical ... Read More:

Ratatouille - Little Chef Remy

We bought this toy for our daughter, and upon wraping it about a month and half later, we realised it only spoke french! This is because it wqas packaged wrongly and came in english packaging, with english instructions, but a french speaking toy! My daughter was bitterly disappointed, and because we didn't check it (the demo batteries were flat) we were out of our 30 day return policy.

Be very careful to check the toy if you buy it!

Also the motor was VERY loud, and at times overpowered the voice of the rat. Wouldn;t recommend this really...........
