My son got the car for xmas. Constructing it was fun - you build the frame from meccano and then attach it to the chassis which contains lights, sound, radio control receiver and motor for rear wheel drive and motor for front wheen steering. Having assembled everything, my son played with it. 5 minutes later he returned saying the drive wheels were making a funny sound and sometimes didn't turn.
I disassembled the car and looked inside the chassis. The main motor has a metal cog that drives a plastic cog assembly (gear reduction) which then powers the back wheels. The metal cog had ground out one or two teeth of the plastic cog so that when in the right position, the motor spins but with no power transfer to the rear wheel.
