I bought this mainly out of curiousity, wondering whether it would actually work.
If you place it flat on a table, and tap the case gently, and wait...
it takes maybe 20sec for the needle to pick a direction.
Without the tapping, the needle seems happy to sit and indicate
(e.g.) 90 degrees off.
If the case is slightly off the horizontal (e.g., on your wrist ;-)
the needle doesn't align at all.
So, "giving precise bearing readings"...? No, of course not.
Not even to the extent you could glance down at it, to figure roughly
which direction you should be walking.
But, my 10yro son accepted it, a couple weeks back, and hasn't
