Ths is an excellent bit of kit - simple, robust and easy to use. None of the over-engineered delicate gadgetry that such kits usually comprise. And it all works! Nice to see some gear where the bugs that the kids find are the stars, not some colourful bits of of easily broken plastic. I'm a professional entomologist who does a lot of bug work with kids and I will be using this kit as the gold standard for Mums & Dads to get their kids interested. Well done indeed Nick!
This is a good item to help teach you child about chemical reactions. It is a basic item but not a toy!!! Me and my son (4) did this together and he gets real enjoyment from checking it each day. Make sure you keep it away from water as it's crystals fall off!! On the whole a good item for the money, and a good talking piece when friends come around.

I can't believe the price of this. I bought one from my local toy shop and it was quite a lot cheaper, but still I think expensive for a glorified piece of moulded plastic. It's quite hard to catch the bugs with the tongs - you're either in danger of crushing the poor things or they wriggle and run away. We caught a couple of wood lice and some sort of small beetle. We put in some water and earth as the instructions suggest. The next morning, one wood louse had drowned and the other had escaped (I found it dead on the kitchen floor). The beetle had disappeared never to be seen again. The magnifying glass just isn't that great and hardly magnifies at all. You're better off spending the money on a proper magnifying glass and putting your bugs ... Read More:
Very disappointing, a few bits in a box, you supply the things for the experiments. Pretty boring ideas that does nothing to enthuse a child about science, or reflects the box image or size.

As I type this my 7 year old son is sat quietly at the table trying to dig his dinosaur out, he's been at it for a few days now and absolutley loves it. (So does the rest of the family) Yes, it does get a quite a bit messy so we've put it on a really large tray which does contain most of the dust. He's already asked if we can get another one, when he's finished this one. Great Buy!
To say that this isn't a particularly exciting game is a bit of an understatement - it certainly doesn't bring the television programme to life.
Game play can be frustrating, as players can easily get stuck waiting for the right dice roll before they can move on through the levels of the game - and there is nothing to entertain in the time before a lucky throw, apart from watching others progress without giving any clues away.
Aside from the occasional challenge question there is very little interaction between players, as players move from clue to clue individually - the race is in reading all the clues and solving the crime before anyone else does. This also slows the game down, as it is a question of getting ... Read More:
I can't believe the previous review!! Why on earth +0do a review of something you have not tried but just imagine will be bad...I mean, what outlook on life does that reflect...just ridiculous!
My 4 year old got this for Christmas from an uncle and I think it has been great. At four my son is very interested in absolutely everything and has wanted a pet for a while. This gave him the opportunity to have a fish tank but one that probably only lasts as long as his interest. The Aquasaurs live between 20 and 90 days so although I end up keeping the beasts happy i only have to do it for a limited time.
My son has been fascinated with the whole thing - preparing the tank, putting in the eggs, watching them hatch, feeding them and watching ... Read More:
