I bought this for my 3 year old but when it arrived the box stated "from 18 months" and I fear it is too babyish to hold interest in the long term. She does love it so far and the music is quite good but the lid is loose and keeps snapping off - a design fault.

Songs are: She'll be coming round the mountain, Merrily we roll along, This is the way we (load our freight), If you're happy and you know it, For he's a jolly good fellow, I've been working on the railroad, Thomas theme and London bridge is falling down.

The idea of a battery powered train is lovely but the reality of it with two boys who don't yet grasp the concept of turning things off is somewhat different. With new batteries percy is capable of pulling quite a few trucks, that is until he is used on carpet rather than the track. However, batteries don't last long and he spends more time waiting for new batteries than being played with. I would only recommend this train and in fact any battery powered train for older children.

Take Along Thomas & Friends - Work & Play Engine Shed Playset

I bought this shed for my son twelve months ago when he turned three. He absolutely loved it then and still does now. He's a normal lively almost four year old now and the shed is still going strong (not one of the doors have come off) and looks like new where many of his other things have long gone. The track supplied is the older thicker plastic type that stays together better than the new... but as many of the newer sets have connection pieces of track with them, it can join onto any set.

The front slides forward to show a working turntable with some finishing touches. Very occasionally my boy pulls the tray out too far when he pulls quite hard, but it goes back easily with my help and no bits of plastic have broken off. The ... Read More:

When receiving the product, I was disappointed to find that the product description was inaccurate. It is the Jet Engine which is battery powered. The Thomas engine is a normal push-along wooden engine.

On that basis, I returned the product and received my money back, without any quibble. In spite of notifying Amazon of their inaccurate product listing, they have, for whatever reason, chosen not to correct it.
