I have a 20 month old little Thomas fan in my family, and he had this for Christmas. It was really well-received!
Amazon's pictures don't make very clear what you actually get in the box. There is sufficient track to make the layout shown on the box (an oval shape, which another smaller shape within it). Trains can be sent in different directions by changing the points which is quite fun. There is a station, and then there are three little pull back engines. When I bought this, I couldn't quite envisage how this would work, but quite simply, all you do is pull them backwards along the track, this seems to 'wind up' the mechanism inside and then the trains will run along the track for at least a circuit or two of the track. my sons have all the toys in this range, and they are mostly very well designed and made. Unfortunately Lofty is very poorly put together. We've had two of these now - the first one broke within a couple of weeks, the second one within half an hour! The hubs that attach the wheels to the axles are very weak, and with even the slightest pressure and the wheels come off. And that's that. A real shame - how are we supposed to complete the set!?

We bought the Roller Coaster Mountain for my son's 4th birthday and he was very excited to get it as it combines 2 of his favourite things - Thomas and roller coasters. It was easy to put together (his 5 year old brother did it) and he and his brother had great fun seeing how many trucks and carriages Thomas could manage to pull up the mountain.

Like the other toys in the Tomy Thomas and Friends Motor Road and Rail range this toy is well built and thought out with a built in breaking track to slow the train down at the bottom. The mountain doesn't come with any trains or track though so you will have to buy these seperately. We already had quite a bit of track but need to buy more curved pieces to put through the tunnel under the mountain. ... Read More:
