LeapFrog Thomas & Friends - Thomas and the School Trip - My First LeapPad Interactive Book

This is a very well put together interactive book. It covers a number of development areas such as counting, colours, shapes and even musical notes.

The voice samples are in a British accent which I think is worth pointing out as some of the other interactive books are in an American accent.

Take Along Thomas and Friends Working Hard Set

we ordered this set in April 2008 as we liked the bridge and layout style,but the set we received had a different layout;the track bridge consisted of 2 supports which didn't hold the track up for long once it started being played with!also the track didn't come around under the bridge,there's a circular section along the track instead.we sent it back for a refund as there were also a couple of faults with our set.
it looked a fun set,and the track does snap together well,and the track layout size is good value for money.
we now have a wooden set though which we prefer.

Take Along Thomas & Friends - Sodor Mining Co. Electronic Playset

My son is 4 and has lots of Take Along sets and he loves them. The sets all join up together to make the Island of Sodor. You can buy extra track, bridges and tunnels etc. The track did change last year but there are adapters that you get in the new sets to join them up so don't worry that they won't fit together - they will. For a compete Thomas addict like my son these are the perfect toy!

My 1st Scalextric Set

When the track and cars are working well my 3 year old boy and 6 year old girl love it. But I have to say that I spend a great deal of time putting the cars back together. One car more than the other seems to come apart a bit too easily and then I have to keep spending time putting it back together. And then you have to get it just right or the cars won't go round the track properly. It comes with crash barriers that don't go on very easily and then come off and seem to hinder the cars. Yes the track does fit together quite easily but little boys like taking things apart and you can't let them do that or it will wreck the track. I would say that this is a toy that needs to be supervised whilst in use, you cannot leave them alone with it! ... Read More:

BRIO 33223 Wooden Railway System: Mighty Red Action Loco

Both of our sons love their Brio trains and track and so we thought we would buy a second battery train so the youngest could enjoy one. The other train (BRIO 33761 Wooden Railway System: Smart Track Engine) worked very well, was well designed and durable.
This train, however, has a flaw - the battery cover on the first train had a locating pin to stop the cover sliding forward and make it secure when it was screwed down into place. This one does not and as a result my wife cannot fit it at all and I have spent half an hour getting it to work. I take this type of equipment apart and put it back together again for a living and I can't do with this model what comes naturally with the earlier one!

Tomy Musical Bubble Thomas

I bought this for my 2 year old nephew for Christmas and he is a massive fan of Thomas as well as bubbles (which kid isn't!?).

This toy doesn't move along very well on carpet and I read in another review that on wooden flooring it can get slippery so they could both be a problem perhaps, there is a little switch to stop it from moving around which is good. I also wish there was a switch to turn the music off because it can get annoying after a while.

However my major concern is that after a week and a half the toy is already broken. The minimum age for this toy is 18 months and children of that age tend to play with their toys abit roughly - perhaps this could have been taken into consideration being such a delicate toy. ... Read More:
