Bought this train when it first came out and it has proved to be an excellent investment. Each time they bring out a new item in the SmartTrack range, the train goes straight back to the top of the list of favourite toys.

We bought the engine shed and reversing tracks for Christmas and had Brio track all over the floor while the train trundled around, back and forth between station and engine shed. Definitely a good buy if you have boys who love trains.

Wooden Thomas & Friends: Henry the Green Engine

We were so disappointed when Brio stopped making the Thomas trains. The quality with these trains is the absolute worst. We used to live in England and the Brio-made Thomas trains were far superior to the American-style Learning Curve or Flair trains. The paint chips quite easily and the trains look terrible. The track is an inferior wood too. What a shame.

Wooden Thomas & Friends: James the Red Engine

My 3 year old (a great Thomas Fan) was given a Flair James as a present. He gives all his wooden engines a hard life! But, I must say the Flair toy has faired much much worst than all his older Brio engines (I understand that Brio no longer make Thomas toys), the paint finish has really flaked and worn away, the toy also appears to be much more flimsily held together -not screwed like the Brio engines and will need to be kept an eye on. Also from a purely 'Dad' perspective, the printing quality of the graphics on the toy are really poor. All in all, it should not be selling for the same price as the Brio version it replaced. Be warned!
