Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (Nintendo DS)

This was the first game me and my sister bought (we went halfers on it) and i have to say we were excited abut it. First, let me say, in my opinion, is good about it...
1) The variety of puzzles: I liked how many different puzzles were in here, especially the maths puzzles (i ot down to 15 seconds for 30 and 45 for 100) and did see a big improvement on my maths. The clock challenge makes you think, but my personal favourite is sudoku. Before, i couldn't get into it, now i love it and i look forward playing to it.
2) The tests: the tests you take beofre you start and during your progress, although you have to enter it manually, and think that it would have been better if test were done in timed intervals.

You get what you're expecting from this game - whether it actually trains your brain or not is another matter. But it's to Dr Kawashima's credit that he's made maths fun!

One problem I've encountered is that it refuses to understand me in the 'speaking' levels - I have a standard (not broad) Scottish accent and it just doesn't want to understand. Having tried my very best comedy Japanese-English and American accents, I have to conclude that Dr Kawashima has it in for me on the speaking games.

Otherwise, it's quite fun, and the progress monitoring lets you see how much better you're getting.

I am addicted to this game. I have been playing on it for a few days now and i have found that it is an enjoyable and exciting game.
In the past imagine games have been a bit dissapointing but this one is by far the best.
At the start of the game you are the only techer in a little school with 4 pupils. As you progress through the game the school gets bigger and more succsessful.
At the start of each week you create the timetable and while teaching the lesson you complete a number of tasks in order to teach them and then you mark one of the kids work at the end of the lesson.
At the end of the day you can personlise the classroom, clean the classroom, practise lessons or give the kids extra tuition.

Nintendogs Labrador Retriever & Friends (Nintendo DS)

I got this game for christmas with my ds. My dad chose it and I think it was a great choice. You get to buy a puppy and train it lots of tricks. When you train your puppy's name it can be hard but you'll get through it. Its fun going on walks but don't let your puppy eat rubbish! I love going in contests. There are three different types. You also get to wash, groom, and play with your puppy. Collecting supplies is fun. In accseseries I even got a lions mane and santas hat! You get to meet your friends dogs and give them presents. I say anyone could like this game so please buy it! Its worth the money.

Spore Creatures (Nintendo DS)

First of all, I've played both "Spore" for PC, and "Spore Creatures" for DS. Spore Creatures wins hands down. Without even taking into account the whole DRM thing, this is much more enjoyable.
It plays similar to any RPG - complete goals, retain health, improve yourself through collecting and improving - but has quite a nice story to go with it, your creature's friend has been kidnapped by an alien and you need to find him. The animations are pretty cute, there are buyable cheats through game points, and it's generally good, clean fun. Anyone from the age of 8 should get on with this just fine, although the fighting isn't explained very well to begin with.
The playtime is also fairly long as well, I've spent more time on this than Spore for PC ... Read More:

I played this game shortly on Xbox 360 and I wanted it ever since. I wasn't going to buy the Microsoft console for just one game so I was delighted to know it was coming on Nintendo DS. Compared to the Xbox the pinatas are less cute but it is compensated by more playability with a drop down screen. The game is really addictive and unlike animal crossing or nintendog, this is more challenging; when the nasty pinatas start infecting your garden with diseases, you have got to find a solution fast. Always a million things to think about, between which plants to grow, to attract which pinata without it being eaten by a pinata you have already...
Lots of hours of fun to come!

After seeing my child struggle for over 40 minutes to get the nintendo machine to recognise the name she was calling (has to happen more than three times) and allow her to type it in, I felt compelled to warn other parents. It is a shame, its a good game which has been completely killed off by unnecessary voice recognition security. I hope someone from nintendo is listening, I am sure people have returned this game due to this design fault.

I got this for my daughter from the states and I haven't heard a peep out of her for days - she absolutely loves it. Personally, I think that the cover is quite possibly the finest work of art I have ever seen.

I know that there are a lot of these games out there but this one seems to stand out. I recommend it to anyone with children. It could be a real life saver this summer.

I have the xbox 360 version and I thought portable civ rev would be great. I dont mind having cut down graphics but the gameplay just isnt as polished as on the xbox version. For example, on the view cities screen you dont see a grid with all the cities named, with production, gold, science & culture totals. You have to scroll and click on each city to find out their totals. I also didnt like not being able to see the units fortifying the city from within the city screen.
But THE KILLER for me is the interface glitches - during one game a sub got stuck and I couldnt move it at all for like 5 turns. Another example is a stack of ships next to an enemy city and another ship below the stack - I could not select the single ship at all.

This is a really fun game, but has a major flaw. It has happened to me and many others I know, when you try and open your inventory at certain points of the game or frequently enter the lift, the game will freeze and you will be unable to continue. However, just restarting the game does not impove this, your game will continue to do this and you'll be unable to continue. My advise is to either not by the sims games for portable gaming devices OR save the game frequently to a different save point each time so if your game does freeze you can return to a previous save point.
