On the plus side, the game looks great. The cars and scenary are beautifully rendered and the collection of race cars is pretty comprehensive.
However, the way the opponent cars drive is ridiculously unrealistic. Rather than getting strung out in line, as happens in most motor racing, they spend most of the time driving around two abreast in a big bunch - there's no concept of some cars being slower than others. As you normally start a race from near the back of the grid this makes overtaking cleanly virtually impossible, especially on some of the narrow street circuits (for me anyway).
Secondly, while on one hand the damage modelling tries to be realistic, the effects of the damage aren't so you can end up driving around ... Read More:

i have been playing this game for some time, then i purchased race 07,to be honest rfactor looks better(eg on the higher settings you can see the grain and blemishes which look realistic on the tyres),plays better and has a massive range of mods available to down load for free, f1-nascar-gt-irl-trucks-vw beatle fun cup-go carts and on and on,theirs just about every track available as well.
you can download a season mod creator, make your own seasons for each mod, points system etc.
its a racing sim that you can through options give a arcade feel to,great sense of balancing the power and braking as you over cook it into a corner and lose that place you fought so hard to claim lol.
i prefer the more sim side of the options(damage onRead More:

The game is amazing and you can literally drive for hours up mountains in the cities in exotic sports cars. You compete in races for money to buy new cars and houses etc.
Firstly here are my machine specs: AMD Athlon XP2400+, 896MB Ram, ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 256mb.
To get the game running OK on my machine - and by ok I mean 15-20 fps which is not great by any means but is playable (Apart from in cities where it drops at times to under 10 fps). I had to disable Details (Flying bits of paper and stuff which don't really add anything to the experience) and Traffic (which makes the game easier because the police aren't after you all the time!), AND set detail settings to LOW which just seems to change the draw distance - everything ... GRAPHICS:
Ok, I had read all the reviews about needing a very high spec pc and although my pc isn't super duper I thought it would probably work ok like all my other high spec games. I bought my pc about 2 years ago, then it was very good, (7600gs 256mb, 500gb sata, 2gb ram, pentium 2 core duo). Now that is quite good I think. However at 1240 by 1024 at the lowest detail settings it still only gave about 4fps with a steering lag of about 1.5 seconds (my formula force ex steering wheel works perfectly with other games) i decided to turn the graphics down a notch or two. I ended up at the lowest possible setting, still with a notisable steering lag! Even at the lowest setting it still looks sort of ok, but not great at all.
VERY DISSAPIONTED

It would be silly to call any GTA review "brief"; it's obviously hard to hold back your thoughts over such an incredible game. But with the original being released on the PS2, and this PC Version being quite over-looked for some console gamers, I'm just going to highlight the key differences between PC and PS2/Xbox versions...
Thumbs Up
.........
- Modification; It's easy to do, and with endless downloads available on the net as well as your own expertise, you can actually really change the input of this game. This is of course no new feat - just look at Microsoft Flight Simulator, or The Sims...
- Well, it loads quicker! No time like the present for some madness and random shooting!

Race 07. If you like WTCC and your computer is nearly half a decade old, like mine, you need to go out to PC World immediately and buy a new PC. The graphics are phenomenal and 32 tracks, you will be glued to the screen for months. You need a graphics card that can support a lot of memory space on your PC for this to work.

when my son got it he couldnt stop [laying it and its good as the cars all handle well and the bonus cars are the ones the balcklist uses plus a ford gt a porsche 911 gt2 and a corvette c6r
the game plays well but the police are good and can put up a fight but sometimes they bust you and there are no cops near you as well as you cant get away with one missing tyre but you can get away with 2 blown

This is a carbon copy of the old microprose "grand prix manager" cica 1995 but with new menus/icons. The graphics are poor and the game is very buggy.
