I'm going to avoid doing the usual boring thing (such as make comparisons to Pro Evolution) & just give an opinion on Fifa 09 in isolation. Admittedly, I've only played the game for one evening since owning it, but I'm impressed, and this could be just what I'm after in a football game.

Presentation wise, Fifa 09 is superb, which all too often can be covering up a product lacking in substance. But this is not the case here... While this is a football simulation, EA havn't forgotten that it is still a video game and because of this, Fifa 09 is entertaining and not sterile. 1st off, the one and only negative:- its euro 2008 rather than next seasons fifa 2009. if this is what fifa will be like, then bring it on. Ive waited years to be able to create yourself AND play as yourself in a football game, and it was good to see that euro 2008 expanded on fifa 2008's 'be a pro' by creating 'captain your country'. have only had the game a couple of days, but im hooked already, not only can you personally score the winner in the euro 2008 final, but when you do so, why not celebrate using the new interactive celebrations? do a peter crouch 'robot dance', a jurgen klinsmann dive, thank God by pointing to him, or why not just do the old fashioned alan shearer one hand in the air? missing england in euro 2008? then play this and ... FIFA 99

Fifa 99 isn't as good as Fifa 98, but is still a good game. Worth ... upwards, it is an essential game if your a Fifa fan like me. With more teams than any other Fifa game, making your own cup and league, is really good fun, when you play a game like Barcelona v Partizan Belgrade (and lose). The stats you get when in a league or cup are good. If you see this game under..., get it, you won't get it cheaper until Fifa 2002.

Adidas Power Soccer - Platinum

Pro Evo is the best football game ever made, but this game was amazing for its time. It had everything you could do amazing skills and score from weird places on the pitch. Also the curl you could put on the ball was awesome. It is a arcade like game and it wont compete with football games of today, but for 4 pounds it is good fun.

so does this. Ridiculously easy on easy mode, ridiculously easy in pro mode, ridiculously hard in world class mode. It also contains the worst offside logic anywhere ever, (apart from conference linesman) where even if a player is nowhere near the ball it is considered offside. Add in the fact that you can only save about 30 changed players, meaning you basically have to keep the pointless, irrelevant, self gratifying EA teams in there. It is a pretty bad game, but i still prefer it to ISS. Sorry.

This is by far the best football game ever made.
The different modes are fantastic, what other game can you play indoor 5 aside then in a game give someone a good old fashioned punch in the back, then go all the way and slide the keeper and get sent off for it? No football game has been this good and ever will be because it promotes "unsportsmanship", pro evo and new fifas are all lardy dar with there new technology stuff this is a meaty game and I love it!

ISS Pro Evolution 2

well originally on PS1 i had fifa 2002. gradually, i was able to play on world class and score at least 5 or 6 goals per game constantly. then i found a cracker-ISS pro evo 2. at the start i was hopeless-taking long range shots with my poor team on master league from all over the place! slowly i learnt-getting better as time went on, but still after a winning streak i cud get slaughtered like 4-0! an incredibly realistic game, with much better graphics than its FIFA equivalent. its even possible to miss a one-on-one shot, or head wide from about a yard out!! its a must buy if you are burdened with only a PS1, but its a really good consolation!

Madden NFL 2000

the Madden NFL games are as close as you can get without actually playing on the field. Although the graphics are not to be compared to the Xbox or other new consoles, this game offers the best graphics for the PSone, and the best gameplay. There is a lot of realism in this game. In franchise mode you can trade players, draft players, etc. you can do everything a normal headcoach can do. All based on realism (players rating, NFL ranking, etc.) Also al lot of details are in the game, if you trade all older players and replace them with (better) rookies, the team will not be better because of lack of experience and because they need to get used to oneanother.
