This is one of the world's best multiplayer games so if you regularly invite friends for multiplayer gaming bouts then you'll love this. And even if not, there's still an online multiplayer mode for playing against far-away friends and foes. If you love multiplayer, just get this - it's full of EPIC WIN!

Where are the storylines? This is a big disappointment -- as the interaction and plotting your way to becoming a star was the best thing and now you can only do a very much shorter version with a small number of wrestlers -- very poor.

With the yearly churn of Video games it sometimes feel like successive titles are 'put out there' rather than actually developed as a break through in both enjoyment and playability.
This one is very enjoyable but not quite the break through that it could have been.
The central story threads are very compelling and completing them often lead to sleepless nights. The Chris Jericho storyline probably was the best one featured in the game and could have been an excellent story used in WWE.
The mix of matches is good, though the ECW match does feel like a bit of a step backwards as you can no longer fight in the crowd. Sometimes reducing the options in this way detracts from the gameplay.

If you're a fan of the older games, you'll drop right in and enjoy yourself; the classic six-button controls feel perfect, and as you take different characters through Arcade mode, you'll unlock alumni who didn't appear in the coin-op edition, like Cammy, Rose, and Dan. Everyone looks as you remember them, only better. Exaggerated new facial animations make every attack look like it really hurts, and the game's distinctive painted graphic style gives it the classy look of an interactive work of art.
Contests are still decided as best-of-three rounds with a time limit on individual bouts and a big old health bar running across the top of the screen. There are still six attack buttons - light, medium and hard of both punch and kick. Being KO'ed without ... Read More:

In my opinion, this is a BIG improvement over last years game.
The controls are less complicated (with really only Fists of Fury remaining as standard and the rest of the attributes virtually optional)and excellent graphics.
However, in my opinion, the UK has got the short end of the stick, as it seems our copies have been duplicated from a pre-finished version. I say that because of certain glaring faults which would've been picked up by any tester worth his salt such as-
If Hornswoggle is used as a manager, if you try to pick up the Shilleighly he throws in, your wrestler will freeze and you will have to re-start the match with NO Shilleighlies.

I am a mediocre wrestling fan. However when i played this i was immediatly hooked. With the up to date graphics i wasn't disappointed. However, it did become very repetitive after a week of having it so i lost interest in it a bit.
Overall - Worth buying for a laugh with mates. I hope 2009 has more game types!

I think this game is probably the best yet. Last years was a bit of a disaster for me in terms of the 24/7 mode, which was boring, repetitive and didn't really work. However the graphics were much improved. They've kept the improved graphics, and I think the gameplay works pretty well too. But for me the main feature on these games is the storyline modes. This year they've thankfully ditched the previously mentioned 24/7 mode, and instead gone for a Road to Wrestlemania section, where you can choose one of six competitors, including a tag team option. The storylines, for the first time, are actually based on the individual charcters, which makes the game much more enjoyable, though it could be better if it lasted a bit longer.
My main problem with the game is that ... Read More:

This 09 version of the game is a huge improvement the 08 one for the wii. There are lots more different types of matches, a proper story mode and a lot more weapons in hardcore matches than just a chair (which is all the other version had). However for some reason it is still does not have all the options that the other formats (x box, ps3 etc) have such as the finishing move creater. In conclusion, to anyone who owns Smackdown vs Raw 08 for the wii, this version is significantly better enough to warrant buying.

Let's start with what's probably the reason why I'm so disappointed by this game - SC3 was fantastic, incredible. Even nearly 3 years after I got it, I still play it a fair bit, in fact I've kept my PS2 just so I could keep SC3. The Chronicles of the Sword mode gave it unbelievable replay value, and at the same time made it easy to get about half of the collectible items (the clothes, character models etc). The Tales of Souls brought a lot more relevance to each individual character's story, and each different path you could take with each character meant you could play through it again and again and go on a different journey each time. You'd think that SC4 would at least replace these modes with some just as good, if not better? You'd be wrong. SC4 is a horrendous disappointment. ... Read More:
