Command & Conquer: The First Decade (PC DVD)

This pack offers incredible value for money but I assume will only appeal to those who wish to revel in nostalgia. The pack offers 100s of hours of gameplay and, although the graphics on the older games is nowhere near the standard of modern games, they are still great fun to play.

Just to set the record straight, there are patches to resolve all the issues that I am aware of. Visit the cncworld website for free downloads.

FIFA 08 (PSP)

I thought fifa 08 was a great game. The psp had great graphics and that is very good for a football game.It was a great game because it has lots of modes and things to do! I the challenge mode there are lots of challenges to go through and best of all you can do lots of things with the points you earn for completing a challenge. In manager mode you get lots of games and get to change players and formation and lots more. You can change the difficulty the camera view bookings injeries and offside. I think this was a good use of my time

Rugby 08 (PS2)

Like another reviewer that can't get this to run on their quad core machine, I cannot get this to run on a Nvidia SLI based machine.
I have spent hours going through the EA helpdesks suggestions to get this to work, but basically it hasn't been tested on SLI and just crashes on start-up.

Bottom line, if you have a high spec machine that Rugby 08 should look wonderful on, you won't even see the splash screen.

Best sports game ive played for ages. There are so many elements to this game that all add up to make a quality product. The graphics are excellent and the various game modes are very enjoyable. If your in doubt try the demo.

Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth II (Xbox 360)

I really liked this game, the controls are effective and feel natural the missiopns are enjoyable never frustrating and the presentation is excellent. Much like command and conquer it is very familiar all round but the gameplay is not bogged down by annoying cut scenes and novelty missions.

Dead Space (PC)

After reading a review which states that while Dead Space is a very intense and horrific sci-fi horror with excellent story and atmosphere.You Play Issac a engineer that has been send to find our what has happen on the Ishimura as planet cracking mining vessel. After landing on the Ishimura you find that the crew have been killed and their corpses mutated in to horrific monstrosity's of their former selves armed only with a cutting laser the odds of your survival look very bleak indeed.

Min Spec are
2.8GHz
1Gb of ram (2GB for vista)
Geforce 6800/Ati x1600 Pro or better graphics card

Plus it also come DRM infested curtsy of EA.

Need for Speed: ProStreet (PSP)

I found this game very disappointing, having just came from most wanted, I thought that, being the sequel's sequel, it would be two steps better.

WRONG!

The game play is boring, and it has no bodykit or spoiler customisation. The tuned cars you see on the back of the box are pre-tuned cars that you only get on the last 4 racetracks. The only visual customisation that you have is rims, window decals, and paint, and that is basically all the customisation I can remember.

The reason I can't remember is because I spend my time re-completing Most Wanted (which you can get for a fiver in good used condition) and is not around four times worse, as the price would suggest, but three times better.

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (PS2)

I was a huge fan of the original Mercenaries, and had big hopes for this sequel. When I heard it was coming out on PS2, I was delighted.

However, this is a big letdown. If anyone remembers the cheap and nasty ports of PC games onto consoles in the late 90s and early 2000s (Carmageddon, Doom, Quake and so on...) you'll remember 'the fog'. It's a horrible shortcut for when developers are having problems with draw distance - everything above close range disappears into a thick fog, meaning that enemies can be shooting at you, yet you can't see them. Vehicles and buildings will suddenly appear out of the middle distance, leaving you with next to no time to react. This is how the PS2 version feels. Medal Of Honor: Heroes 2 (Wii)

I bought this game after reading positive reviews for it on Amazon.
Despite some novel weaponary and interesting backgounds, you'll quickly find the gameplay limiting. The most obviously flawed area, is that when you're injured you just need to hide for a few seconds and your health magically restores itself. This coupled with the fact that the game is far too short, means that it is very easy to complete.
If you're after a first person shooter, buy Resident Evil 4 instead. If you can get past the whole 'zombie' thing, you'll find the gameplay much more involving and fun.
Time will tell if the new 'Call of Duty' or 'Brothers in Arms' will improve on this or not, but at the moment RE4 is the game to beat.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (PC DVD)

I've been meaning to review this for a while... But events have overtaken me... Did you know that EA aren't planning a pc version of Tiger W PGA Tour 2009? Wii, nintendo, xbox, playstation, you name it - but no pc version...

Which kinda fits what I was going to say anyway: sure, the game's still got quite a few of the faults from the last version(s), but maybe we need to take a reality check here. When I first got into pc golf games in the mid 90's, there were a bunch of games competing for our attention. I got started on the old PGA486 tour, which then turned into the TW/PGA franchise. Back in the day, there were a bunch of other golf games around (eg the LS Links series), but they all seem to have vanished now. I'd guess that golf sims rank pretty low in sales terms compared ...
