Microsoft Train Simulator (PC CD)

This is still a better and more accuarate simulation than the newer Rail Simulator. The artwork is dated by current standards. However, the editors included allow you to tailor the routes and content to suit.

Plenty of quality add-ons. At this price is GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY and still the leading rail sim!

Off Road (Wii)

played this last night and have to agree with other reviewers, basic and not much fun - bought it for my 6 year old though and I'm sure he'll love it (will have to wait for birthday..) - but will be a bit of a chore for me to play it with him. Been playing Colin McRae 2.0 and that is miles ahead of Off Road in every respect (in spite of being 8 years old). In-game controls are very basic - steering works heavily but maybe just need to fine tune it, overall feels like an old fashioned game - and was hoping for car damage as in Colin McRae - but instead you just get some sparks if you collide and later black smoke.
Also - many of the tracks seem to be locked?? So - I have to 'defeat the desert' before I can pick something else?

Regarding "PM s" Review of The Game....Bearing In Mind he hasnt Played it Is Laughable Im afraid! Im SORRY that It Doesnt Work On His Laptop, BUT i Have to say, Its is Incredibly Addictive, And Is BRILLIANT Actually.
Though It Hasnt Changed Engine Wise Since The 2007 Version, You Do have Up-to -date Players In The Sides, And Obviously It STILL has Online Play,
The fact That "PM" has Reviewed The Game WITHOUT having Seen it .... is Ridiculous To be Honest.

Here's a game that provides excellent gameplay and fun for hours. Im not going to cover the other reviews,more a take on other things, less mentioned.

It seems that to play a game nowadays, you must install the latest uber cpu and graphics card, this is not the case with FL. The beauty of FL is its able pack a huge punch and still be visually exciting and vibrant with old spec pc's. You can tell they squeezed every ounce on the limited specs thay had to deal with. The audio with doppeler effects, makes you feel your in space, with audio becoming more clear as they approach and dropping off at distance. i had been thinking if i should or shouldnt get this game for a while, but seeing it in game as a sale item i thought why not. You start at the train station where you are met by a girl, your couson, who then explanes that she is traning with her dad (your uncle) to take photos of animals. Its your job to go out, find the animals, and befriend them. You can pet, feed, bath, groom, play and walk the animals, as they become your friend your couson and uncle take photos. Back in your room you can view the photos, i thought that these would look like the animal i had been playing with but to my surprice pictures of real kittens cats puppies hamsters and loads more cute animals. As you progress you get to unlock mini games like dressing up dogs, playing hide ... Read More:

Flatout: Ultimate Carnage (Xbox 360)

Lets get one thing straight. This game isn't a racing simulation. What it is is bags of fun. The career mode is great fun. Having to smash into things, including other cars is part of the game and you won't get very far if you don't. It really gets dog eat dog as you are as much the victim as the villain. There is carnage mode which is where you are set targets in different events and races and you have to complete them to unlock the next levels. There is also the rag doll mode, which is where this game really comes into it's own. When you crash badly, the driver flies out of windscreen. Starship Troopers (PC)

I bought this game because i couldn't believe how the critics were so bad when the video demos of the game were so promising. Also because it was pretty cheap. anyway, everything bad you read about this game is true and thats why i love this game so much. there is almost no storyline, the characters are empty, the whole game is pretty much the same from start to end, but frankly i have been waiting for a game like this for a while now because i feel that they don't make good, old fashion, mindless, gory action games anymore.
bottom line: this isn't half-life 2; but if you want to shut down your brain for a while and kill hundreds of giant spiders as fast as you can you won't be disappointed

FlatOut 2 (PS2)

I like the 'Burnout' franchise, but this, it's something else...
Rather than driverless cars and big crashes that stop your pride & joy in a hellfire of explosions, twisted metal and glass (Burnout), this let's you barrel roll your own car, then if you're still on a road, and upright after that, drive off... No action replays like 'Burnout' here, just metal crunching, glass smashing, tyre smelting, crash dummies FUN!!
