Spyro: Year of the Dragon

Spyro once again has to save the world and after finally managing to go on his holiday in dragon shores he comes back to the dragon worlds and while him and his dragon friends are sleeping all of the dragon eggs that are soon to be hatched are stolen by evil rhynocs and the the apprentice of the evil sorcoress. They manage to get away just in time through a whole onto the other side of the world the forgotten worlds. And who is the only person small enough to fit throught the hole. Yep you guessed right Spyro. He is on another world saving adventure to take back the dragon eggs and on the way he can take on small tasks such as skateboarding or beating an evil marine in a submarine. I got this a while back for about £15-£20 and alright that is the usual price for video games these days.

However, being an old Sonic fan since I was a kid, when I looked on the back on the box it said nine games for the price of one virtually so I bought it seeing as they were all Sonic games that I once used to play loads of times but now have given them away. I was especially happy that the PC version of one of my favourites, Sonic R which can be a good single player and multiplayer game, was on there as the PC one always had some features that my old Saturn version never did. You get three full games which should now run on an average 'modern' PC (whatever that means) and at a price that can't be missed.

Whilst the quality of the games / challenges does improve across the series, at this price you can't go wrong if you haven't been buying them as individuals.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (PC CD)

Okay. Nice game. Graphics are okay, but I bit blocky and unrealistic. I thought that this game was a little hard for younger players (like my cousin) to deal with.

Some of the levels were a bit challenging: sneaking part filtch and Mrs. Norris wearing the invisible cloak, and choosing the right potion near the end of the game (got progressively faster and faster, making my eyes go funny lol). I also didn't 'get' how to defeat Voldemort, which led me to be beaten by him several times before I won. I thought that was frustrating.

The game, in my opinion, ran a little sloooowly and you couldn't skip cutsecenes (which was rather annoying) and so I had to turn my sound ... Read More:

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (N64)

People say that star wars games always fail, i agree.........mostly. This is as playable as the x wing/tie fighter original games but better. Easy controls ,4 spaceships and another 3 to unlock, massivley varying levels and exciting enemies all wrap up to make a near perfect game. And, once you've completed it you can get loads of cheats which make it even more fun to play! The graphics are hardly up to date but the game was made almost 5 years ago. This is no lucas arts wash out that relies on the name to sell. This is the best star wars game on the market. If only someone would make a revamped online playable version for ps2.

All star wars fans would be mad not to buy this game!

By now the name 'Mario can only echo to the world mushrooms, evil turtles and 'flower power'. Oh yeah and of course, the greatest video game character of all time. Yoshi's Island is an excellent game, and the spirit of challenge and fun runs throughout from the start to the all-mighty finish! Oh, and considering the main character IS NOT MARIO but his trustworthy friend and pseudo-babysitter Yoshi; gamers can expect an experience that's just a little bit different.

The story has been given a little bit more thought than the previous Mario games: that is the 'rescue the princess/ defeat King Koopa' template. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (PS2)

This is a fantastic game but can be very challanging at times mainly to get the Silent Assassin rank but nonetheless a good game. A vast improvment on the original but i recommend you buy that aswell. The disguise system does need to be improved, if you mistakenly press to hard on the L3 button you will be found out but i really recommend you buy this along with its two sequels.

this game is not what i expected from a ds spyro
as a child i loved the spyro games but this is all about the fighting with nothing else to drive it forward
i lost interest very quickly
