A great fighting game, with an impressive choice of player characters (with many, many more left to 'unlock'). I'm not a HUGE fan of fighting games, but am a big comics fan and being able to play the X-Men along with the Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain America etc. really appealed to me. The game is very fast and furious, with 2D fighting action set in beautifully animated 3D environments. Much less 'fussy' than some of the fully 3D fighters, and much more 'classy', with gorgeous anime style sprites and special moves. With characters like Sabretooth and Silver Samurai to unlock, this one will keep me playing for a while...It also greatly entertained a group of gaming friends who preferred it over most of my other multi-player Dreamcast games... I thought it was a very amusing and reasonable difficult game to play ,however its replay value is not very high, and hardcore spider man fans like me would think it is not the same as in the comics and tv programme.if you are looking for a reasnonable entertaning game then this is the one for you.
This came last in a Dreamcast Monthly poll some years ago, well bottom last with Mortal Kombat Gold,I didn't have the game at the time but gave it a go(I had it for Xmas) when ODM gave it 7/10 and some magazines (In Japan) gave it more than Soul Calibur.
Granted,on first loading it up it looks like an ST or Amiga game, possibly even closer to it's PSX original, but wait I've been playing it for 2 hours or more even forsaking Quake III and Phantasy Star Online!
Those not in the know,it's a one-on-one beat-em-up played out in a big cube, your character is free to move in this 'cage'flying about like a Saturday morning cartoon, yes it's similar to the DragonBall Z games,
The graphics are best described as basic, looking like an old PSX game, bit ... Read More:

Virtua Tennis 2 vastly improves upon the original with much better graphics (I was reminded of this when I had to revert back to the original for a while after mis-placing my VT2 disc, a option for a sliced shot, a more realistic lop shot, and generally more fluid animation.
The obvious new feature is the addition of the female players, so this is great for females as well as males in that they can choose whatever sex they want to play as-not meaning to sound that females should only be restricted to females and vice versa.
There's the World Challenge tour, which is like a "campaign" in any other game, with no time limit. You design your player, height, skin, face, hair, etc and enter competitions. In an attempt to mimic real life, ... Read More:

... ITS THE MOST CONFUSING POOR GRAPHICAL GAME IVE EVER SEEN ON THE DREAMCAST. THE OPENING SEQUENCE GETS YOU ALL EXCITED WITH THE CHAINSAW AND HIS GRIN FOLLOWED BY S**T GHOSTS AND THE SAME TEXT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. 'ILL SWALLOW YOUR SOUL' WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ALL ABOUT. ANY WHO ON A WHOLE POOR GAME.

The whole motivation of this game is rescuing Daisy (a reporter and photographer) from the clutches of Merlock, the wicked magician. Not only does Donald have to get to Daisy in time but he also has to beat his cousin Gladstone, who is hell bent on getting to her first. The graphics on this game are good with authentic cartoon style presentation. There is very little jerking or glitching and the frequent short films are extremely funny and well worth watching. An interesting feature of this game is that when Donald gets attacked by enemies his mood changes and he gets angry and upset. There are 21 levels on this game and 4 worlds, my favourite of which is the city, quite simply because it is so different. The controls on this game are very simple to learn and use and ... Hidden and dangerous is one of the most explosive 3rd person action games for the dreamcast that I have ever played on, the graphics and the sound are explosive, one of the best and for those of you who like rambo, then be prepared to be disappionted as you can't just run round corners and waste people, you have to sneak, run, jump and climb your way through this game, goldeneye and perfect dark lovers be prepared to get a shock!

I have all the 'arena' style FPS games on the Dreamcast, namely Quake III Arena,Outtrigger and this,my only problems?,the apparent lack of female/alien characters(I've finished the game on the first two skill settings, whether they're unlocked on one of the higher settings I don't know but it seems a bit of a chore to me)and the range of control options, they're a bit limited,if you could use the left trigger as secondary fire it would be perfect but it's mapped onto d-pad up and firing a few of the weapons secondary function (the pulse gun particularly)is next to useless.I recently bought Quake III on the PS2 and it's awful next to the Dreamcast version, here's hoping the PS2 version of this is at least as good.

Whilst this game may not be at the cutting edge of Dreamcast technology, for die hard fans of the Tomb Raider series it is a welcome addition to your collection. The familiar control system remains as does the will and need to just do that next little bit! Buy it!
