Mind you i've only bought this game 4 hours ago but i've been playing it non-stop since then.
As the previous review stated, the menus have changed and the match games and loading times are quite a bit slower but the main reason for that seems because there's just so much more of the game than previous versions.
You now have oppertunities to hire new assistant managers and coaches, and there are ways of becoming involved on an international level too.
The game itself now has a 3d match engine and you're able to communicate with the entire team and individual players throughout a match.
Overall this game is a vast improvement on the previous versions. Even if it is a bit slower. But who on ... Read More:

I had high expectations for this game after reading some very good reviews for it. Sadly there are a decent amount of bugs which EA don't seem to be keen on releasing patches for. The main one is jerky, unsmooth graphics during gameplay AND in cut scenes. There are work arounds posted all over the net. Some work to an extent, others don't work at all. Even on a high spec PC which far exceeds the minimum requirements, these problems still occur.

I brought this game with the GIGA pack when i first brought one and i was delighted. The gameplay is userfriendly and has the "pick up and play" performance that makes the PSP so brilliant. The unlockables are perfect from England 1966 to the EURO SUPERTEAM. The game is challenging and you feel a real sense of pleasure when you complete the game. Even when the game is completed you can still do so many more things such as beat your records and invent your own challenges throught the replayable tournaments The only downside to the game, for people who like the statistical side of the game, is that it is hard to access what you have and haven't actually achieved. You have to look through team by team to see if anyone remains unlocked but this doesn't take ... Read More:

This EA take on the Uefa Euro 2008 championships is obviously going to suffer commercially in England because of the execrable failure of the national team.
As a game, it is a lot closer in feel to the World Cup 2006 game, which first got me into the whole PS2 football thing, than the imperious FIFA 08. The camera angle is a bit weird, too low and off-centre and, despite frequent attempts to correct it, tends to revert to the same view. Shooting is easier than in the parent game; the AI tackling is downright feeble.
The main innovation is the 'kickstick' - which is using the right analogue stick as a draw back and shoot stick, a bit like putting in the Tiger Woods golf games. I can't say I was impressed. On penalties - and there are suppose to ... Read More:

Having played both fifa 08 and pro evo 08 this is still up there. I do not agree that its just a money spinner it got some great features specific to the champions league including creation of a all time team.

This is the last version of PES for the PS2. It is identical to the last one and the one before that.
It is a good football game and creating your own team in master league is fun. Plenty cups and competitions to keep you going. The lack of an official license is getting tiresome.
Good fun and one of the best footie games on PS2 but it lacks any real innovation.

I'm not a serious gamer, I don't really have the TIME to be a serious gamer, not enough time to master every single control technique. I like to be able to pick up the controller and have a decent game of football.
PES 5 is a really fun game, but I get the feeling it could have been so much better. Its great fun to play, looks great and flows along at a good pace. Its also great fun with two players but its a different story against the AI.
Long balls don't work, neither do through balls, the opposition has a sixth sense that tells them exaclty where the ball will go. Its impossible to score from free kicks, nearly all my shots seem to be blocked by the defender and why is it that every tackle results in a free kick to the opposition?
