Sonic N (N-Gage)

This is an okay game but it's clearly designed for the Game Boy Advance and a port rushed to the n-gage to coincide with its launch in 2003 without too much care or attention. It doesn't suit the N-gage's screen shape and the zoomed out view doesn't have much in the way of detail.

If you really want a good platform game on the N-gage, go for Rayman 3, it looks nice but more importantly it plays excellently.

Pathway to Glory was hailed by many games journals as being the N-Gage's saviour and saviour it is. Pathway to Glory has taken everything about the N-Gage and made it better through playing the game. This is fair, as the developers Red Lynx knew all of N-Gage's secrets so as to best manipulate them; all is to be said is that they were successful.

The campaign missions of Pathway to Glory are interesting and exhilarating. You play through several historically accurate missions that were carried out by the WWII Allied forces. While occasionally long and drawn out, relief is provided from the suspense created by the turn-based system. You command a squadron of soldiers, all with individual statistics. Rayman 3 (N-Gage)

Yes yes, it's a 2D platform game and you might think that's disappointing on a system that can do full 3D. But if you actually play this (it's actually called Rayman 3 despite what's listed on Amazon's catalogues) you'll find it's an excellent game.

The graphics are bright and colourful and suit the screen shape (unlike the terrible Sonic N) and there's even good multiplayer modes for Bluetooth. No arena support unforunately, but you can't have everything.

This isn't the best game on the n-gage, but it's definitely a better alternative to Sonic N if you want a cute 2D platformer.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (N-Gage)

Yes yes, it's a 2D platform game and you might think that's disappointing on a system that can do full 3D. But if you actually play this (it's actually called Rayman 3 despite what's listed on Amazon's catalogues) you'll find it's an excellent game.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 (N-Gage)

This is possibly the best golf game on a handheld ever made, really excellent.

The graphics aren't astonishing but they're good enough, and it's the gameplay that's the real star. The interface is wonderfully intuitive, especially the way swings are handled:

Normally golf sims have a "click twice" system but on the N-gage version you move the joypad down and then up in one smooth motion. The power and swing of the shot are determined by how you move it up and down, which feels much much more natural than just "Click click".

Another nice thing is the online gameplay, you can go up against people all round the world on the internet and compete to get to the top of the leagues.

Glimmerati NGA (Nokia N-Gage)

Glimmerati is a stylish if slightly cheesy mission based racing game. You complete driving challenges such as getting a passenger from point A to point B in a set time, compete in out & out races and complete other tasks. All these contribute to your personal rating allowing you to improve your reputation and give you the funds to get better cars to race in. The game includes a mixture of cut scenes, which include real speech, and top down arcade style racing. The pacing is good and the learning curve is just right. Pocket Kingdom: Own the World (N-Gage)

This is a very strange game but it's also incredibly addictive. Having this with you all the time is just the best way of killing time ever invented, as you don't need to spend very long on a particular battle (they usually have timelimits of 30 to 90 seconds) but you can spend hours at a time upgrading your units and wandering around the landscape finding new armies to beat.

You upgrade your units a bit like Pokemon, they evolve into their new forms, but unlike Pokemon experience isn't enough, they only evolve when they're fed the right Emblem. You create Emblems by combining items you find in the world (such as jewels, leaves, metals etc) and experimenting and finding the right recipes to make your units evolve is one of the key parts of the gameplay.

SSX Out Of Bounds (N-Gage)

SSX is a fun game. it has reasonably good graphics, and is fun to play. especially fun to play over bluetooth. however on conquer the mountain it is a little easy to complete with no real challanges. all in all it is a fun game and is worth buying, but only if you are into the extreme sports genre.
