i too had an earlier madden game on psp, except mine was 06 (have the rest on ps3 and ps2) and so i debated whether or not to buy this. Ended thinking why not, i too thought good choice there. and as this game offers great fun with the franchise mode, and the new superstar adds to frustration when your so close but have to do it again, the addiction is unbearable.
And yet i do feel that compared to the main title on the ps3, this lacks, i mean i saw superstar on the menu, expecting it to be the same as the main game. Create a rookie take him through his career. and so as much as io love this game, you will too if u have played madden before, or love american football. Definitley worth buying. when you get to a certain point in the one player mode and unlock the 5th player, there isn't much of a challenge left in continuing one player mode e.g. unlocking parts of the characters outfits...., but - brilliant fun when you play by wireless (each player needs their own disc for the wireless game) - but great fun rivalliing each other!!

I've had this game for a few weeks now and thought I'd give it a good play before jumping to any conclusions over what I think of it.
The flaws which reviews have pointed to are there. For example, the control system is different to any game I've ever played, and it is fiddly. You do get used to it, although never to the extent where you really feel like you've mastered it.
Also, it does feel a tad easy. There are times where you get killed and begin to think that it may finally get a bit more challenging, but mistakes are easily avoided on second attempt. However, there are indeed 3 difficulty levels (easy, normal and hard), and I've only been using normal. I am not yet qualified to say whether or not the hard mode will challenge.

It's true that the controls are very iffy, yes certainly, but you can get used to them with time, however don't waste your enjoyment of this title, and similar others. Get a PSP thumb pad available around the net (Extra Thumbpad Kit). When you have stuck one of those onto the directional pad, this game, and Alpha 3 play like a dream. Darkstalkers with a thumb pad gets 92% and Alpha 3 gets 94%.

I was duped by the advertising and bought this game. The first few missions are fine, but after that the game is just too hard. You need really good driving skills, as one bump can mess up an entire mission. The action is not around the player, you have to constantly drive to catch up with it. Also I found a lot of the dialogue annoying, adding to the frustration.

First off this isnt a sequel. Think of it as a expansion or add-on. The sole purpose of portable ops plus is to expand on that highly addictive habbit of gaining more soldiers for your teams and to that end great soldiers of the past games are now avaiable. Old snake, roy campbell, raiden, SEAL's, genome soliders and much more are available. If you loved recruiting new soldiers from the past MPO you'll love this.

Single player 4/5: It's not a campaign so dont get any ideas. Basically you can import your whole team over from portable ops or start off fresh if you wish and then go into infinity mission. The graphics for this game are absolutely amazing and leave games like MIdnight Club in the shade. The driving experience is is easy to use and easy to learn. It has great tunes including the theme from Hackers, these play in the background as you drive and are a great feature.

The betting and pink slip races are spot on and can be equally frustrating and exciting as you gamble your hard earned cars and seek to mod new ones. The most fun is the range of cars in the game from the Civic Type-R to the Dodge American muscle cars.

This is a truly great game that hasnt left my PSP for 2 weeks. 5 stars!

So, I bought this game pretty much blind, and am very disappointed. It's insufferably trendy in presentation, and the plethora of mini-games are boring and repetitive. The box says it's for 12+, but I can't imagine anyone over the age of 12 having any interest in it. Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man :)

Ok, here's 5 points for you:

1: The smoothness of outrun is incredible and the speed and graphics are breathtaking and its a joy to play.

2:......for about 1 hour.

3: The game is purely arcade and very shallow.

4: It becomes virtualy impossible at the latter stages.

5: If formula 1 was as fast and smooth as Outrun then it would never be beaten for a driving game on the psp.

I would recommend that you pick up a copy 2nd hand, it shows up the fact that psp driving games can be smooth and fast but most of the programmers just cant be bothered.
