The Golden Compass (PS3)

I received this game as part of my PS3 bundle and I was so sure it would be 'pants' that I have had it nearly six months before putting the disc in the PS3. Firstly I read the book which was excellent and I was so intrigued by how the story would translate to a game, I thought I would give it a bash. There are so few games on the PS3 that are NOT first person shooters, I must confess my PS3 has been sitting in a drawer gathering dust. Firstly I would like to get the bad bits out of the way:

1) No movable camera which leads to our young heroine plummeting to her death as a cliff appears in front of her but you can't see it. It also impedes the jumping sequences but then again, I can put up with that.

I have recently purchased this item after reading only the first couple reviews, strangely enough I found that the only reviews that Amazon was displaying were the good ones. Now after receiveing the product and having nothing but problems with it I have gone back to Amazon and read all the reviews and strangely enough the rest of the reviews describe exactly the problem that I am having. My advice would be DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Your money would be more wisely spent elsewhere on another product.

Sony S-Video Cable (PS3)

IF your one of the people like me, who haven't yet managed to buy a hi-def tv but have the ps3, then please do your ps3 justice and buy this cabel. This cabel splits the analogue video signal into chrominance (Colour) and luminance (Light), resulting in a better picture, well obviously not as good as the HDMI cabel, but much much better then the original cabel that is supplied with the PS3. It also gives an Audio L and R cabel for sound aswell. so if you dont have a HD Tv, then please buy this. You will definately see the difference.

Our 9 year old son must be enjoying this game as he would be on it constantly if we allowed him to be. My main reason for writing this review is to let others know that initially we could not hear the rats speaking and this was down to having the PS3 connected up to a surround sound amp. with an optical lead. When playing this game I have to change the audio settings within the PS3 to send the sound via the phono leads and change it back to output the sound via the optical lead for all other games. I have heard that some other users have had the same issue.

Ours did not fit either.

Apparently these do not fit the common 40gb Playstation 3

Basically, previous to this I was using a HDMI to DVI converter for my TV, the problem here was that DVI does not carry sound and therefore I had to buy an audio jack for it. All of this was very cheap and effective but when I saw this product I thought it would be much simpler to buy this, so I purchased it and plugged it in and was simply appaled. It claimed it was on 1080i resolution although it was far worse then the original HDMI to DVI cable. The gameplay experience was awful and I am back to my old cable. The PS3 has a HDMI port for a reason. This product simply can not provide the full HD experience.

remedy funded this game themselfs until microsoft came in with thier blankchecks. the game is funded by around 70% microsoft money so there is more chance of rasputin rising from the grave than a ps3 version of alan wake
