I thought this game had potential, but it hasn't been realised. The graphics, while being 3D, aren't that great. The sound is good, and the gameplay is easy enough to get a hang of (although it is just too damn hard). I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but this game leaves you a little underwhelmed. It's a good solid space shooter, but there isn't much more to it than that. I thought there might have been an element of flying, but it's just like the old PC game Rebel Assault, rather than a portable version of Rogue Leader.

I'm still waiting for a really good Star Wars game on the GBA. Lets hope it isn't too far in the future.

Those introduced early to the GBA will have been delighted by flagship games such as Rayman Advance, which show off the full potential of the GBA and herald a new era for handheld gaming.

Unfortunately gamers will also have noticed an influx of sub-quality games for the GBA which, no doubt, have been rushed out to take full advantage of the high price currently commanded by the platform.

Those, like many, who recognise Lego as a quality brand will be supprised at this game, which falls squarely into the latter category.

The graphics have a yearning towards Commadore 16, but rarely surpass the Vic20. Not to worry, those aware of the GBA's need of a powerful light source will be pleased to see the landscapes ... Read More:

Robot Wars 2 - Extreme Destruction

When I bought Robot Wars Extreme Destruction, I thought it was going to be like the first one. In that, the only way you could win was with a flipper. But this game was much different. It had amazing graphics! Some of the robots from Robot Wars were recreated perfectly. Within minutes I had got my moneys worth.
Amazing though it was, it was easy, until I replayed Championship on Gold. Instead of being against all star robots, you are against the house robots. It's the same with every game on Gold. The hardest thing is the Gauntlet challenge (Drop Zone) on Gold. You have to have your speed just right, so it is best to use a wedge with very little speed, but good at turning quickly, and avoiding.
I would have got my moneys worth ... Read More:

Ecks vs Sever

"Ecks vs. Sever" is defenitely in the Top 5 GBA games ever produced. Quite frankly, I was shocked at the versatility of the GBA when it came to the 3D aspect of the game. The combat is actually quite convincing, never really "slow". The textures, speed, and level design is, of course, nowhere NEAR a PC or console, but for the GBA, STUNNING! Some of the later levels are HUGE...defenitely not a little 5-minute affair...very large and involving. "Ecks vs. Sever" has a relatively large array of weaponry. Some of these weapons are very satisfying and powerful, whereas others (like the minigun) are a bit disappointing. However, the game is still VERY fun, and I might also add that many of the levels have hidden bonuses, secondary passageways, ... Read More:

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA)

I bought this game last year and played in on my Nintendo DS lite, and I just want to comment on the "darkness" issue that many reviews of this game mention. This Castlevania was one of the first releases on the GBA. The old-style GBA didn't have a very good screen, and Castlevania looked very dark, making it difficult to play in a normal lighted room. The screens on the Game Boy Micro and Nintendo DS are much, much better and there is *absolutely no problem* with the darkness of the screen.

The game itself is excellent and well worth picking up. The difficulty was just right for me: not too easy and not too difficult, although it helps to find the most useful of the cards to make things easier (especially the final battle). Check ... Read More:

I normally enjoy superhero games on the GBA even when I cannot play them. I have now played a few levels and cannot help responding 'so what'. The designers do not seem to have thought through the FF concept and powers. Save your money.

After the disapointment of the GBA 'The Incredibles' Game, I hesitated before buying my 8 year old son this game, fearing another movie tie-in disaster. To be honest, I don't know why I was suprised that 'The Incredibles' was an awful game, in my opinion Movie Tie-ins almost always are.

So I am pleased to report that my son has actually really enjoyed playing this one. There is enough variety to keep him interested and challenged, without feeling the need to throw the GBA console across the room. (Yes, he really did do that! Luckily it still works...)

Maybe the key point is that this has thought outside of the restrictions of the film, and come up with some 'what came next' ideas.

Personally I don't like hand held ... Read More:

There are some really great games out there that no one seems to appreiciate, this is one of them. Mario vs Donkey Kong didn't seem to be noticed. even being bundled with a special super mario Game Boy Advance SP wasn't helping, which is a real shame.

The general storyline is that Donkey Kong wants to buy a new "Mini Mario" toy, but when he arrives at the store they are sold out. Donkey Kong then goes ape *ahem* and attempts to steal all the Mini Marios from the toy company.

This challenging puzzler is a great game with heaps of Mario charm, and if you stick with it long enough you're sure to get to the super-hard +Levels. Don't ignore it, buy it!
