Been meaning to get a "proper" satnav for ages as I only have one on my Nokia N95. I looked at many reviews on Amazon and although there were the usual mix of good and bad reviews and the usual review from people who obviously do not know what they're doing, I decided to plump for the tomtom one v3, although I bought the Explore version that comes with the carry case.
Some gadgets are complicated to use and some are easy to use, this tomtom is in a category all on it's own: easypeasylemonsqueezy.
I turned the unit on and got a GPS signal within 20 seconds - I was inside too - I followed the simple on screen instructions and was planning a trip to the local supermarket within seconds. It was brilliant!

I haven't used a tomtom but I tested the garmin out on a daytrip to legoland and was really impressed. Very quick to set up and plan route. Would definatly recommend to a friend.

This is the first navigation system that I have bought and, like other reviewers, I spent some time making my choice on the basis of Amazon and other reviews. I have used the system in Aberdeen, London and northern Italy and it has worked very well in all locations.
I have had no problems with satellite reception except when the unit was not powered from the lighter socket of a car with its engine running. I can't say for certain whether lack of signal is directly related to power supply, but it may be a factor. However, I have never had a signal problem with the engine running and the signal was detected within seconds in every new location.
The maps that came with the unit are mostly accurate and I was impressed with the way ... Read More:

I haven't come across a perfect Sat Nav yet but the Nuvi 200W gets as close as is feasibly possible for a cheap basic machine. 100% better than the Navman S30 I bought earlier and immediately regretted.
The wide screen and generously sized keypad makes entering addresses a piece of cake. The intuitive software also makes this task very easy once you are familiar with it. This only takes a couple of goes so you are flying in no time.
The mapping and route calculation is top notch and it re-calculates in an instant if you go wrong. The screen is clear and bright and a pleasure to use.
I suppose my only niggles - otherwise it would have been five stars - is the lack of a £3 USB cable supplied in the box (how else ... Read More:

I bought the TomTom a week ago and used it immediately for 1000 miles or so to Brittany. Everything worked perfectly 'straight from the box'. If we did take a wrong turning, it was quickly picked up and we were re-routed. The only time it became rather confused was at a new shopping mall in France where there were no roads marked. We were impressed with the routing to hotels, which often involved complicated one-way streets. We were a little surprised that not all of the 'safety' cameras in the variable speed limit section of the M25 near Heathrow, were marked.

I used to do a fair amount of running up until about 10 years ago. In those days I used a Casio watch to record how long I was out for. I would then guess how far the run was or drive the route I had just ran to get some idea how far I had gone. I started running again in the last six months and I am very impressed by the Forerunner. It is not perfect, the distance climbed is more a guess rather than an accurate statement. I suspect the calories burned is also a little bit of a guide rather than a fact. However the distance travelled versus the time taken is very good, again not perfect, but far better than any guess I could come up with.
Yes it takes a little while to get the satellite signal before your start your run, but I tend to put it by the window, get ... Read More:

I have spent 5 days in reviewing different web sites and contacting vendors in order to make a comparison to opt the optimal GPS. Finally, I decided to go with Garmin Nuvi 760 and without any doubt it was the right decision.
It took me from Manchester to Oban (Scotland) once I opend the box without doing any preparation except uploading some MP3 songs.
Really, it was an excellent device.
If any body ask me about which GPS to buy, I would immidatley say Garmin 760.
Note: only small point that I have to mention. During my trip to scotland, I have found some differences between what 760 tell me and the real situation. I think I may need to download the latest map. Anyway, I have contacted Garmin and been waiting their reply.

Having been a bit of a sceptic about satnavs - after all, what's so difficult about reading a map(!) - I borrowed this from a friend to navigate around London and am a convert. It just makes driving (even in heavy congestion) so much more bearable when you're not having to squint at road signs to check you've not missed the turn. In fact, it's been an absolute revelation.
Having not tried any of the competition I'm not best placed to give comparisons, but this did all I required it to do very impressively - so much so that Jane became one of the family - albeit one who's a little bit humourless if very forgiving... no tantrums if you do take a wrong turn, she just calmly takes a deep breath, counts to ten, and recalculates. I think I'm in love.

I am running 10k in October, and I bought this to help me train, I am extremely impressed with it! Brilliant! Recommended! Good value for the money!

I purchased this item before going away this weekend. I arrived at the camp site to my mates with glum faces as all their mobiles were on low charge.
I plug 1 into the power monkey and the other into the solar panels and 3 hour later happy faces were in the camp.
I was susrprised at the ease of use and the amount of adaptors in the bag.
this will now travel with me everywhere for the charge when you need it.
