OK, so I bought this item for my mac particularly because it describes 'ultra-quiet' fans, and macbooks are generally very quiet (pretty much silent in fact), so any noise is very noticeable.
And this notebook cooler is not 'ultra-quiet' at all. In fact the noise is pretty annoying.
What is the point of buying a product to stop your laptop's fans working overtime and making a racket if the cooler itself makes more noise?
Hmm. Not impressed.
Also, the contoured surface looks good, but doesn't hold your laptop very securely - I'm in fact a bit nervous leaving it on top in case it slips off onto the floor!

I've bought one of these to keep my iPod going while i'm travelling - I'm hoping that I can charge it up in hotel rooms / hostels etc, but if I can't, I know that this little gizmo will keep me listening to my music and i can use it on the plane, sat in my lap, instead of eating my ipod's internal battery.
Yes, it's a little bit bulky, but then it does hold 4 AA batteries - it's not going to be slim line, is it.. It's also a little bit expensive (for a white plastic case with a wire coming out of it..) but it's an iPod add-on, so you're going to get milked, aren't you (reckon the apple ceo makes more money from apple licensing than he does selling ipods...).. but think about the freedom it gives you - iPod listening anywhere in the ... Crumpler bags really are top notch and this one is no exception. It is made of really tough material and is put together with plenty of skill and attention to detail.
I wanted a smaller Crumpler than my other bag (Crumpler Cheesy Disco) just to tote around a 12" Mac Powerbook and some odds and ends. This one hasn't got a great deal of room in it, but none of that room is wasted. It carries the laptop, a technical manual, mobile phone and case, a couple of A6 notebooks and a couple of fountain pens in a case.
The bag is divided into 2 main areas: the laptop part at the back of the bag, shrouded in a padded area, and a front area which is where I carry the rest of my gear. There is a mesh pouch in this area, which might be ... Read More:

A good length cable attached to the insert lock by a padlock. Not pretty but maybe visibility is a benefit when it comes to deterrence. Mildly concerned about the relatively flimsy link that attaches the cable to the padlock but I'm sure it'd be easier to crack the laptop casing to release the insert rather than break the link.
If someone really wants the laptop, they'll take it, although that would also be true with a more expensive lock.
