As I was upgrading from one of these cheapo £25 512Mb ones I did not have huge expectations. I did quite a bit of research on MP3 before making the plunge, Which magazine and website, read most of the amazon reviews and other websites. The YP-T9 was rated highly in Which and the reliability appeared to be better than the Ipods. What really tipped it for me was the price. Why would I want to pay twice as much of a 4Gb Nano that does not have a radio? It was a close run thing between the Samsung and the Sony Walkman which appear to be comparable in price and features. It was looks that won the day and in the flesh it looks better than the pictures. I have been using it for 3 months now and find it very easy to use without having to dive ... Read More:
Looks like a third generation ipod but it's something in the cheap department. I was offered this in spain in a corner shop but i knew this was fake. Don't buy

Really pleased with these. It's not like being at Gatecrasher on a big trance night, but they do their job as travel speakers or as a second "hi-fi". Tweaking your iPod's EQ menu helps them sound better - I like the Dance (bassy) and Electronic (trebly but little bass) and Rock settings. I leave the iStation 'surround sound' ON. (Surround sound only if you're the size of a flea, though.)
Cost me £50 four years ago (still going strong) and much cheaper if you play around with a few mouse clicks now !
Re some web reviews stating that continually operating the iPod buttons weakens the docking connection - I don't know if it works with the smaller ones, but on the full-size iPod or the new Touch version (I've tried both), you are supposed ... Read More:

Whenever I read MP3 player reviews, I'm astounded by how much focus there is on how the thing looks compared to how well it works. I've had a bunch of MP3 players over the years and this is by far the easiest to use, you can practically navigate through songs from the outside of your pocket. Syncs easily with WMP, or you can easily drag and drop songs straight to the player. Also, a massive bonus is that no software or drivers are required to install it. There are loads of great features which are also easy to use, you can download different themes which change the appearance of all the menus for example. Battery life is satisfactory as well. All in all, a first class player.

I bought one of these about six months ago, and it's great. It charges through my PC no problem, dragging music files into is simple. It also charges and plays through my hifi through the USB connection. If feels good, like a small slim mobile phone, and I like the stainless steel back. I wanted to get more memory and a longer battery time, so I was really pleased when I saw the Philips SA2840 on Amazon, with 4Gb and 20 hours battery time. But it did not connect to my PC or hifi! Neither did the replacement! (see my review under that product). A bit like the review above.

When I opened the substantial packaging I burst out laughing, it looks like a miniature UFO! I plugged it in, connected my MP3 player and turned it on to discover the sound was quite good, but only on hard surfaces, the speaker faces down and the sound reflects from the surface it stands upon. It isn't flimsy, it's heavy enough, feels robust and is plenty loud enough for listening in a bedroom, it's obviously not going to be your main system but it's ok for smaller rooms. One thing to note, it is obviously MONOPHONIC, it has only one (1) speaker, but it sounds good enough for casual listening, as you would listen to the radio for instance. The bonus of 1gb of internal playable memory is a great idea, although I haven't tried it yet, but if you turn it on with nothing ... Read More:

I use this machine for recording sermons at our church and for playing background music through a professional PA system. The only gripes I have is the less than intuitive operation - I have tried to show colleagues how to use it, finalise discs, set levels etc and it's not easy! The operation of the recording side of it is not as easy as our old fashioned cassette deck! First you have to allow a few seconds before the recording starts while the machine faffs about checking the disc etc. Then you have to make sure you haven't accidentally touched the record select button and upset the input signal. Then after the recording, you must finalise the disc before it can be played on another machine. So not the most user friendly piece of technology but still an excellent ... Read More:

I ve had my nano for 18 months now and never used it with earphones. In my cars its wired in directly to the head units (which gives full control and avoids those crap fm transmitters) and at home I use docking stations. I also use an Altec IM7 for portable use. This brilliant device has rendered CD's and multichangers obsolete. I ve not come close to filling half the memory so started ripping at higher bit rates as suggested by the audiophilles but I really have nt noticed an improvement in audio quality. No quality or reliability issues which is a shame cos i cant justify buying the gen 4 model out this summer (16gb plus bluetooth is my guess!) Buy one now.
