This machine is unreliable when using more than one VLAN with the current firmware. That makes it relatively useless as a smart switch. Read other reviews.

Again - like the other products in the BT Voyager range, it is easy to install. I used one of these for 2 years, the card eventually broke - but it always took a bit of a beating as the card added to the width of my laptop and it got knocked every time I put my laptop back in it's case. I'm surprised it lasted to long considering!
I did notice towards the end that the driver software for this was becoming more difficult to find on the BT.com website, but I'm sure that if you really need it you'd be able to connect to the web (via LAN cable!) and search for it - alternatively, don't lose the bundled CD-Rom like I did!!!

Having read some reviews, I went straight to the Linksys website and downloaded the latest firmware (available for both version 1 and 2 - mine is a version 2, being recent) and the firmware installation tool. Upgrade to July '07 firmware worked, first go.
I then set the BEFSX41 up as the Internet router on my home LAN. This is very similar to any other Linksys box (like a WRT54G) in the menu structure. Saved settings and all worked well. Does not require a reboot or switch off, if you are familiar with the Windows IPCONFIG /RELEASE and IPCONFIG /RENEW commands (Google them, if not - it will save you time over the years.)
My next step was to establish a VPN from the home LAN to the office. The VPN box at the office was ... Read More:

I bought one of these to use in my living room with my MS Media Centre, big mistake.
10 meters is the "theory" but it has trouble working correctly 2 meters away!! The mouse also has trouble recognising that it is moving if you use a black surface to place the mouse on, I've used the MS bluetooth keyboard before and that is exeptional, although it is 4 times the price. This is not a good product. I ended up buying a MCE IR keyboard, much better and it has an off switch to save on batteries.

I recently bought this product and have been fighting with it ever since.
Advertised as straight forward with excelent online resources. Nope, none of the above present my lord! It appears to work but then fails, then works, then fails a few times. Also nil resources that i could find on the belkin site. No wired assitance full stop infact!
I finally resulted in investing in a cable tester (which i do reccomend!!) in order to prove its rubbish. It is. Stick with netgear is my advice!
