I have used this adaptor both on computers running XP and now VISTA.
I have had not 1 problem with using on either whatsoever.
Other reviewers warn you about using it on VISTA - well all i did was to plug it into my new DELL desktop and it was up and running in 3 minutes !!
I did'nt need to down load new drivers or anything. So where the other reviewers came across VISTA prolems i don't know.
Great bit of kit.

Does what it says on the tin. Very quick and easy to set up and a good alternative to wireless for setting up a home network if wireless reception is an issue. The adaptors remain expensive however so for most wireless will remain a cheaper option. Once the price comes down this will become a more mainstream choice.

Since installing over 4 months ago I've not had any problems with this router at home. It provides uninterrupted wireless and enables me to use the laptop anywhere in the house. A good bit of kit!

I am a typical power user, running an RSS reader, iTunes, FTP and IM all at once. In my house we have 2 laptops, a desktop PC, an Xbox 360, a Wii and a DS all connecting to this access point, it worked fine for about a week but when using any sort of program with heavy connection usage (like an FTP program or P2P application) it dies due to a fault which Linksys has fixed with an update to every one of their routers EXCEPT this one.

Occasionally, it also decides to not let new any devices connect that aren't already connected. So my Mac, the desktop and my 360 could all connect but my dad's laptop couldn't. Changing the mode of encryption managed to fix this, though I do not know why.

I have two of these on my home network. They are easy to install and the software was quite intuitive to use. Nice kit. Does exactly what it says on the box!

bought the unit, had problems, contacted dlink support (offshore) and have had a bad experience so far - they agreed the unit needs to be replaced, promised a call back that day, so far nothing (two days later). DLINK, get your act together, this isnt acceptable, especially considering the price of the unit: this will be the last time i'll consider buying anything from you unless your service improves...

Purchased a Belkin wireless G cable router direct from my ISP, NTL approx 18 months ago. Setup did not go according to plan and had to seek telephone help to sort out making connection secure, but after this initial problem, all seemed OK. Then in March 2008 the router died on me. I contacted Belkin support, and after the 3rd phone call managed to get someone who could speak English clear enough for me to explain the problem and subsiquently organise a replacement unit. The new unit arrived within 5 days and was up and running in an hour or so. Then in August 2008, it started dropping the Internet connection on both the hard wired PC and the wireless laptop, as experienced by other reviewees. I've not had any trouble at all with the router. It worked first time with my daughter's brand new lap top, which runs Windows Vista.
However the adapter is another story! This was for my 3 and a half year old desktop Dell PC which has a fairly high spec & is running Windows XP Service pack 2. I disconnected the wired modem and followed the Netgear instructions precisely.
It worked OK so I deleted my old connection. Then it started slowing down and losing the signal. Then it got to the stage of not connecting at all. I must have uninstalled & re-installed it about ten times to no avail. I went on my daughters laptop & read the reviews again on here. Tried various things, none of which worked. A complete nightmare to set up. I am good with PCs and bought this as I have other netgear equipment. I tried to set up both secured and unsecured networks with no luck.
I made a one hour call to support in India, with no luck. They kept telling me totally different settings to those in the instructions.
I spent several more hours and telephone calls with no luck.
Eventually I sent the units back to the supplier and luckily they were kind enought to give me a refund.
