Got this 20inch wide screen as an upgrade from my 4 year old Sharp LL-172A 17inch standard flat lcd monitor.

Pros: Driver cd updated winXP in a flash, nice clear 1680 x 1050 resolution, easy set up brightness / digital vibrance / contract / image sharpening / gamma using existing nVidia control panel, no need to install the bundled Samsung software, comes with dvi cable and vga cable for older pc.

Cons: Vista drivers were not included on driver cd you'll need an internet connection to use the download link instead. This nice monitor is very badly let down buy the flimsy plastic stand, with poor adjustment, when you gently touch the power switch the whole thing 'wobbles' creating an air of cheapness to the finished article. ... I ordered the Samsung Syncmaster 24"Widescreen monitor from Pixmania on 24th September expecting, from previous orders, delivery within their 4 working days estimate. It arrived on 26th, actually just 30 hours after ordering. Brilliant service as usual from Pixmania. Ok, onto the product review. I'd done a fair amount of research into this size of monitor and time and time again the Syncmaster came out with largely very complimentary comments.

I had it set up and plugged into my new Mac Pro within about 20 minutes and, as you may have guessed, the Mac recognised it with no need for driver installation with no fiddling whatever. This product is spot on... but I received it with one dead pixel.
Got in contact with the company, and there's nothing that can be done!
They have a "Pixel policy" whereby you have to have at least 4 dead pixels or 2 within close proximity to be able to get a working screen.
Yes, it's only one pixel, but when you're working on graphic design, or Photoshop it can be THE most irritating thing in the world.

I would very much like to see this policy change and companies look after their customers.

"Digital Components Ltd" was no use at all in helping me sort out this problem, they simply fobbed me off with a phone number to LG.

I still love my new screen, but I am very disappointed. We shouldn't be punished ... Read More:

I'm not going to repeat the existing review but I do think it is worth pointing out that although the monitor is great, the built-in speakers produce a flat sound with very little bass. I've tried playing with my sound card FX to correct this but to no avail, I'm off to buy some separate speakers later. You can't listen to music on the built-in speakers.

I've tried playing with my sound card FX to correct this but to no avail, I'm off to buy some separate speakers later. You can't listen to music on the built-in speakers.

Just to let you know before you spend a lot of money on this, they don't warn you that LG do not make their televisions with earphone output!! So if you are buying this TV to use with headphones like i did, be warned!! You are about to waste a whole lot of money!!!

I got one of these screens a few days ago and have used it pretty much continuously since with absolutely no problems. The stand fitted with no trouble and the tilt works just fine, it plugged and played straight away and had no dead pixels, the controls are unobtrusive but not fiddly to use should you want to adjust the display.

I really can't find anything about it to criticise at all - it's just a really nice monitor.

Thinking of buying this monitor based on the good reviews I have read on Amazon. One niggle is people's apparent ignorance of how screen sizes work.
They are always quoted 'on the diagonal', so if you do the Pythagoras (good old maths again!) on a 16" X 10" screen size, you come up with 18.6....so nearly 19".

You can't just go on the width and height, as certain reviewers seem to have done, and then crticised the display for being too small. It is what HP say - 19". They couldn't say it was if it wasn't. Otherwise we'd be into Trade Descriptions act and all that stuff.

Have now bought this item from Amazon- best deal when yo take into account free shipping. Others seem a bit less but then add about £8/9.00 carriage so a good ... Read More:
