I bought this Sat Nav becuase of the amount of time I spend in the USA for work and I have got to say it is an excellent user friendly sat nav. The directions are easy to follow and the screen is large enough for good map details, yet the Sat Nav is still small enough to fit in your jacket pocket. One the features I like in this Sat Nav is its hands free calling bluetooth feature, which is very user friendly and definitely more comfortable to use then a bluetooth ear piece. I have even found the Mp3 to be of reasonable sound quality and works well with an FM transmitter.

Like most new Sat Nav's the maps were already out of date when the product arrived but I found it is easy to update the software. overall I would highly recommend ... Read More:

Don't even think of buying this. The traffic feature hardly works in the UK. Mine ran out of memory before completing installation of maps.Updated maps are aBOUT £60. The Garmin nuovo series blows this away. The online support is dreadful - I spent hours following the instructions which didn't work, then was offerred a return but the return envelope required never arrived. Brilliant Amazon have promised a full refund.
LATER - Amazon refunded in full. Still trying to get refund of £19.95 for camera data which never loaded into the Tomtom for lack of memory. When it works it is fine warning you of stops and delays. It is just that the signal is so intermittent. One moment it is OK the next it is gone. Most mornings it takes 15-20 mins to get a signal and stopping the car can see you lose that for the same period.

Repeated manual searches are the only way to get something. The signal is more reliable in Europe with good strength in France and Belgium but nothing in Lux and Western Germany. This is on a bike so there are no windscreen issues.

The Zumo 500 De Luxe is an excellent piece of kit for the motorcyclist and shares many features with Garmins's superb Nuvi range. It comes with UK maps installed but the European maps must be loaded onto a SD card (not supplied) but this takes about 20minutes with a computer. Only a motorcycle mount is supplied but surely that is all you need?

Easy-to-use controls, top of the range RAM mount, superb easy-to-read display combine to make a superb unit.

This sets the benchmark in GPS units for motorcyclists.

I work in the oil and gas exploration industry and so spend a fair amount of time either getting to a particular point or marking a point of geology for reference in the office. We have access to top of the line Trimble equipment but just about everyone who is going to the field stops by to see if they can borrow the legend. Why?? well its easy to use tough and light weight and gets us the accuracy that we need for scout work. Just wish that there were maps of more of the out of the way places or that we could download the topo maps more easily but then we would have to pay a lot more for the system. Best field equipment I have bought in a while.
