I had 2GB of RAM before but I always found that Vista swallowed it all up and every so often, everything would be dumped to the hard drive. This caused the computer to grind to a halt for 5 minutes or so.
So I reverted back to XP and was quite happy for a while. On a whim, I bought this memory, installed it and installed Vista Home Premium 64-bit (download an MSDN torrent and use your own serial key). Vista absolutely glistens with 4GB of RAM (maybe even 3GB) and I'm extremely satisfied with it's performance.

Have this in my new gaming PC along with the 8800GTX gpu, 2GB of 800mhz ram on a socket AM2 motherboard. All works well and runs at warp speed compared to my dusty old Dell. Got the new PC a few months ago so obviously there's faster stuff out there now, but this CPU is still among the top 10 CPU's on tomshardware.com and is far cheaper than the equivalent Intel number.
Overall I'd recommened this to anyone buying a PC for 'normal use' to slightly more advanced use involving occassional gaming. However, if you do a lot of gaming, particularly online it might be an idea to wait for the new AMD 'Phenom' CPU's to come out as they're bound to be extremely powerfull and cheaper than Intel.
