Wonderful piece of kit, scans film & slides very well indeed, you just need to read instuctions first, though I found it quite user friendly, I had it scanning slides within 30 min after getting it out of the box.
Auto film loader is spot on, a key feature, it does require the film to be undamaged, no kinks or damaged edges and fed in with care.
Sure its a bit on the slow side but the quality of result is very good indeed, software allows for all sorts of repair and enhancement.
It was able to scan repair/restore forty year old film a treat.
A bargain for the casual film/photo scanner who cannot justify the high cost of a dedicated 35mm film scanner.

Does everything well. Had same low capacity issues with supplied cartridges but once changed got a large increase in amount of printed pages. Setup instructions are clear and very easy to follow. Overall very pleased.

I was secptical about buying this scanner after reading a few reviews. But as it was the cheapest I gave it a go. But I think I got more for my money and was really pleasently surprised when I started using it. It is a compact unit which doesnt take up much space. Works exactly as it says on the box, although you do need to read the manual to get the best results. The scanning glass and lights also need to be cleaned (cleaning brush included) quite often, but I think that may be more due my negatives. The included software is adequate if you just want to transfer the pictures, but can get free software from the web if you want to really transform the pictures. I bought this particular model so that I could not just print wirelessly but also monitor the toner levels on my Samsung CLP-315 colour laser printer. I installed the software on my PC with Windows XP and laptop running Windows 2000. The printer wasn't listed as a compatible but I took a chance and it paid off.

I used the software CD provided and it all went quite smoothly after a restart of the router so that it assigned the IP addresses properly.

Overall I am very happy with this print server, and hopefully will save some money now my PC doesn't need to be on all the time. I have put the print server and printer on a plug-in timer so hope to cut down the standby power usage even further.

I bought this printer for it's compatability with Linux, and while initially I had troubles using it under Fedora Core 6 (x86_64), I found a cure to get round it at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=214189 . I tried it with a few other flavours of Linux including Suse 10.1 (x86_64), Ubuntu, and Knoppix and it worked straight away. Simply download the latest version of the driver from the Samsung website, and follow the instructions. The scanner also works fine and the copier does not even require a computer.
The print quality is fantastic for my purpouses (student) and it's speed is very good for the price. It comes with a starter toner cartridge but no USB lead.
Under Windows, it installed fine and comes with some extra software ... Read More:

I have had the printer for a week running via a Netgear wireless router (Mac Mini via cabled ethernet and MacBook via wireless, both on OSX Leopard)and whilst the quality of the printer output is fine the instructions and software leave something to be desired. After a successful setup the printer decided to stop printing via ethernet connection. Jobs would go to the queue, the printer would make encouraging whirring noises but then the print job would change from processing to stopped. It would print via USB (when I put it back to check) and would copy from the scanner so the hardware was fine. Eventually I downloaded the CUPS OSX Leopard driver and that has (so far!) seemed to do the trick. Next step is to try and get the old Dell laptop running Windows XP to ... Read More:

Having to find a replacement for my Epson Perfection 1670 was nor easy.
After been given various recommendations I had an online chat with Emma at Epson and followed her recommendation and decided on the 4490.
As I could not uninstall some of the programs of the 1670 error messages) I presumed that I might have trouble loading the 4490. No problem - loaded first time.
Scanning mainly original watercolours for a few artists I had no problems at all. Very similar to the l670 with many more options and good colours, using Adobe photoshop 7.
Also very fast delivery from Amazon.

Kodak ESP-5 All-In-One Printer / Copier / Scanner

After buing this printer it was faulty and after contacting kodak who took there time in responding/and could not give me a satisfactory answer to the fault.I am in the process of returning it for a refund,the printer was also 'noisy' disatisfied customer.
