I bought this with my logitech z2300's, thinking it would improve the clarity of the speakers.
Firstly, the speakers are great, but I plugged in the x-thingy, and it destroyed the treble speakers. It started making that sound you get if the cones are damaged.
I thought that the system was broken, but unplugged the x-thing, and the speakers sounded normal. Plugged the x-thing in again, and the speakers went back to sounding broken.
I don't know if this is because I've set it up wrong, but it seems to be set up correctly. Plus, you don't notice that much of an improvement.
I'm sending it back. There's no point to be honest, the z2300's are a perfect speaker set-up anyway, and this just seems ... Read More:

This is a superb USB sound i/f upgrade. If you check its analogue i/o performance with RMAA it's up there with the best, and far better than the poor built-in audio on most motherboards. OK, it's only 2 channel in and out, but as I use it for audio measurement of amplifiers and loudspeaker systems I only need 2-channels and it's an excellent portable interface. Unlike the other commentor I had no driver problems. I just selected the Transit as the default audio card and away I went.

Ive had nothing but problems with this card. Managed to get it working eventually, and it was working for approx 1.5 months ... but now it has started to cause problems again, preventing WinXP from booting up properly. I managed to get in and disable the driver, and the machine boots OK (and a lot faster) now.
Avoid!

Windows XP recognised and installed it right away. The machine noise on the headphone socket was shocking. The line out socket didn't seem to be producing any signal. I think this might be because it automaticly mutes the line out when headphones are plugged in. I don't know if it's because there's something wrong with my USB ports or the actual soundcard that's connected to them, but I can't seem to get rid of this machine noise. This item does not solve the problem.
I just bought this card a couple of days ago and contrary to the other reviewer above, for me at least, this card was a synch to install and set up.....let it be known that I personally do not use 5.1 speaker systems, yet...or windows media center so I cannot vouch for the card's reliability there, however there is an audio equaliser setting in the card's software package that came with the disc, and also contrary to the other reviewer above, the only BSOD issue of any kind I have had was with one game, that being splinter cell double agent, occurs quickly in game and reboots the whole PC after a crash....however this happened on my old sound blaster audigy value card also so I think that is more of an issue with splinter cell double agent and it's ...
