I could not get this product to work. Neither my desktop not laptop could reliably recognize the device, and even when they could, they would not communicate even using a simple interface like Hyperterminal.

I was able to get a link working using the supplied drivers, but another USB-serial converter we already had in the office. (Sadly, that unit doesn't have its manufacturer printed on it, so I can't easily get a duplicate.)

All that being said, customer service from E W Link was excellent. They sent a out a second device for me to try, and credited me back without quibble when I returned them.

D-Link DUB C2 - USB adapter - CardBus - Hi-Speed USB - 2 ports

My laptop also freezes when I am using this USB adapter. Probably it is not compatible with all laptops (mine is a Compaq running Windows XP)but this is not mentioned anywhere!
I lost my money!
