It looks great on paper - that's why I got it. In reality, if it could be persuaded to stand up securely, it would still look great. However, unless you carefully balance the cables, it won't. Even if you do balance the cables, it soon knocks over or devices you attach to it pull it over. I suspect I will soon dump it and get something that looks less good but works. LaCie would have done better to have had the cables coming out of the bottom of the device. Incidentally, they do provide all the cables you are likely to need to connect it up - I suspect those will be useful and partially offset the money I wasted on buying this. What a pity - it could have been so much better.

The card installed as per the intructions without errors or problems. Connected my digital camcorder to it and within 5 minutes I was capturing digital video. A great PCI slot saver if you happen not to have either USB2 or Firewire. One of the advantages of DV capture over analogue capture is that you can control the camcorder from your video editing package. USB2 is necessary for high bandwidth peripherals such as external hard drives and scanners. Overall a good product at a competitive price when compared to similar products from other manufacturers.
