Bought this to connect my basic Sony MiniDV Camcorder to my laptop, which didn't come with it's own firewire port. Plugged it in, computer recognises it and you're up and running on Windows Moviemaker within minutes.

No messing product. Highly recommended!

I admit some trepidation-first time I've fiddled inside the computer. A lot of these cards do not specify Vista support, but this one did. It was so easy, just slot it in and turn the PC back on. The PC recognised it immediately and within minutes I was downloading from my antiquated JVC camcorder. I am delighted with the service and the results.

This device is advertised as a USB 2.0 hub. When I plug in USB 2 devices, Windows alerts that the newly attached device can run faster and that I should plug the device into a fast USB 2 socket.

This makes me think this device is "USB 2 Compatible" i.e. it will plug into a USB 2 socket but the actual unit only provides USB 1 connectivity for any devices attached. Avoid this nasty second-rate hardware it will not give you 4 fast USB ports - it will give you 4 old USB 1.1 ports which are useless for high speed peripherals.
