Wild Science - Worm World

I am a childminder so bought this as an activity to do with a range of children from 2 upto 11 years.
It is really terrible. Ours has been going for about 4 weeks now (the max time wormworld say you should keep the worms in for) and you would not know there were worms in there! Although the box is quite thin, the worms still manage to stay 'in the middle' and so out of sight.(there are worms in there, 9 in fact, 10 is the max number allowed) Aload of cobblers and a complete waste of money.
Their is a tiny booklet in there telling you about worms, which is slightly interesting, but by far the most enjoyable part of the whole thing was digging for worms in the first place. You would be better off saving your money and getting an old ... Read More:

Insect Lore Butterfly Garden

Absolutely superb present for the kids that amazes them and provides daily interest as they watch the tiny caterpillars transform into butterflies over a few weeks.

The kit contains a colourful pop-up enclosure with a feeding pipette and a coded voucher to redeem for a couple of quid for 4 or 5 tiny caterpillars. They can't put live caterpillars in the box of course. The voucher must either be sent by post or the code used on the Insect Lore website. Wild Science - Triop World

Its simple really, you get a packet of eggs that look like tobaco, and you pour half of them in some natural mineral water that should be inside the inclded bowl.
Wait 24 hours and half the eggs should have hatched, your told not to feed them for the next 48 hours as they will eath the eggs. When there first hatched its hard to see them but you can see little tiny white tails swimming around, and lots of them!
Soon after 48 hours they should now be clearly visable and you can now feed them with your food that was included.

Dino Magic Egg

I bought this as a small 'top up' gift for my son's 6th birthday - he loves it, even though the end product is a little bit of plastic in the shape of a dinosuar that's only and inch or so long...

His two-year old sister really went wild for it too, and has kept it under her pillow all week.

So although it's nothing special as far as us adults are concerned, it has something about it that kids really go for.

It'd make a good stocking filler for Christmas.

From Caterpillar to Butterfly (Lets read & find out science stage 1)

I bought this as a small 'top up' gift for my son's 6th birthday - he loves it, even though the end product is a little bit of plastic in the shape of a dinosuar that's only and inch or so long...

His two-year old sister really went wild for it too, and has kept it under her pillow all week.

So although it's nothing special as far as us adults are concerned, it has something about it that kids really go for.

It'd make a good stocking filler for Christmas.

Building the lagoon is easy.

Put water in lagoon - Only you can only use rain or bottled water, you have to do this in the lagoon lid until triops are 3 weeks old.
Pop triop eggs in - You have to let the water turn room temperature then place in eggs.
Then leave (till feeding time) - Its winter so a desk lamp has to be left on laggon 12hours a day
I put eggs in and seriously one day later the triops could be seen (a bit minute at first)

Grass and cress: Planted these seeds about 3 days ago all easy, leaflet said one week for cress and two weeks for grass only cress visable very much so.

It's basic and simple - and could be put together from bits around the house, but with the vials and potions in this kit they can just get on and have a go mixing and making; learning how to measure and follow instructions in the process.
