Wild Science - Triop World

This kit allows you to hatch and rear specimens of Triops longicaudatus, the longtail tadpole shrimp. You simply follow the instructions in the kit (it's basically a case of adding some dirt which contains the eggs into a pot of water and putting it somewhere warm and light) and the T. longicaudatus soon hatch and start growing at an almost alarming pace. The relatively short life cycle makes it an excellent teaching aid for teaching anything to do with growth and development. T. longicaudatus are fed on small pellets of fish food or diced vegetables but can (and invariably do!) eat one another. Wild Science - Ant World

I was given this as a leaving present, as a kind of joke, but my colleagues didn't realise I've always loved ants and really wanted one of these for ages! I wasn't disappointed. This is a well-designed product which provides hours of entertainment and fascination. I've seen all sorts of strange things going on in my Ant World: ants moving things around then back again like women designing a living room with furniture, a brutal murder when an ant I thought had escaped turned out to clearly be from outside (i.e. it was killed within minutes of entry), and interesting preferences for lunch: fruits not as popular as one might think, honey, other insects and even nuts proving popular on the menu. Horrible Science - Explosive Experiments The Kit

Perfume Lab

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter and she liked it - mind you it only lasted for a day or so and the scents were not much to write home about. I cant help thinking that a good ol go with some rose petals and water has about the same educational level. i think that it could have had more scents in it - and more interesting ones too. These packs never have enough stuff in them and once they are gone they are gone. Mind you my daughter did enjoy doing it but beware - you may have to wear rose and mint perfume!

My 9 year old enjoyed setting up the unit and finding the worms. Unfortunately, once the worms had buried themselves, we did not see them again.They didn't come up for any of the 'food' that we put in for them. 4 weeks later we tipped them out. They were all still alive, but as we never saw them it was a waste of time and money. My son was very dissapointed.

I was interested in buying this and saw one out for demonstration, so i thought i'd test it out before i bought it. Lucky i did! I thought of a racoon and began the game. It began promising, asking sensible questions, then went totally off the point. It never got it in 20 questions and only got it on the 25 question, which i felt was a bit of a cheat. I tried again with something simple, but this time, it never got it. I was glad when the words "you win" came up on the screen and it turned itself off, probably because it was embarrassed! At that point, i had to leave, which i felt glad to do, and was very glad i tried it before i bought it. John Adams Freaks of Nature - Plants with Attitude

My 10 year old daughter received this as a birthday gift. The rose of jerrico is impressive, it goes a bit green then dries up then comes back to life ad infintitum. However none of the seeds germinated. The seeds are also very tiny and only have 3 or 5 in the packet so are difficult to get out and plant. It would have been fantastic if it had worked, but I don't recommend this project as is quite unreliable.
