Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (Xbox)

from: Eidos

October 04, 2002
What can make a game is atmosphere. It can have cool guns and suave moves but atmosphere is something that is under-appreciated. The Hitman games, especially Hitman 2, is drenched in atmosphere. It's settings wherein you play the levels are simply amazing.

Hitman 2 revolves around a clone who works in the profession of "cleaning" but, after the bloodbath of the original game, Hitman: Codename 47, our hero, 47, is now religious and lives alone in a church with a priest in Sicily. Wanting to lure him from his lair to show off his skills, a Russian crime lord hires a group of Sicilians to kidnap the priest. This takes you into the first level of the game, "Anathema", a powerful opening level as you stalk around the mansion of the Mafia ... Read More:

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (Xbox)

Ok, so I'm not officially a Splinter Cell hater. Heck, I picked up CT recently and I'm really enjoying it.

There are a few main problems I have with this game. Firstly, you have all these "fantastic" stealth moves that *should* give you a lot of freedom with how you tackle missions. The problem is, the use of these moves is always in a horribly contrived setting. That is, you'll only be able to use a particular move if it was designed to be used at that specific point in the game. You're not free to choose these moves, you can only do them when available.

But that wouldn't be a huge problem, were it not for the following issue. This game is prone to punishing bouts of trial-and-error. I don't like to have to replay the same segment ... Read More:

OK, first things first, if you have an Xbox 360, get The Orange Box, or if you have a powerful enough PC, get the PC version, they're better and offer more.

THAT BEING SAID...

When you consider the system it's running on, this is an amazing achievement. Sure, the frame rate can drop, and it looks worse than the other versions I mentioned, but it still looks very nice, and plays incredibly well.

If you can only play this on the Xbox, please do yourself a favour and get it.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent (Xbox)

from: Electronic Arts

November 26, 2004
Yes, as you probably know, this game has no real relationship to Goldeneye on the N64. It was probably a huge mistake of EA to attach the Goldeneye name to the title, from the start this created an impossible comparison that EA could never really hope to match. This has led to Rogue Agent being cursed by an entire generation of gamers when, in fact, it's a very good game.
It actually has more in common with last year's Perfect Dark Zero and the now standard Halo than Rare's classic Goldeneye. Rogue Agent isn't particularly original but then it doesn't need to be; The level design is competent and entertaining, the enemy AI is excellent and the graphics are nothing amazing but very nice.
This game can be very rewarding if you approach it without any expectations, ... Read More:

Xbox Official Controller S

from: Microsoft

November 01, 2002
The Xbox controller this size is very good size. Its comfortable, its got a good rumble pack and its the best Controller for Xbox except perhaps the Wireless version. The colours and design on this COntroller is also very nice, but the Controller breaks easily. I have 4 Xbox controllers. 1 came with my Xbox and it now has the problem that the Controller things that im pressing the Right Trigger all the time. An annoying problem for games like Halo, Shooting everything accidentely. The other controller thinks im moving the right Joystick thing to the right slightly all the time (not too bad) the other one is fine actually and the last one doesnt work at all really. It keeps on saying (Please Re-Insert Controller and Press Start) ALL THE TIME. Annoying...

i feel that the fuss generated about this game is dribble it is quite a challenge to start out with then after the first level you find yourself trekking through deserted streets with terrible graphics one cool thing is that you can pick up nearly anything but the inventory is clumsy and feels as if the developers are just letting you do most of the work it feels like a first person shooter swallowed world of warcraft but then threw it back up again because it tasted so terrible i probably sound like a madman saying all this and for that i am sorry but i had some free time and thought this is some thing to do overall i think this game is obsolete now and fable is a much better buy PEACE OUT!

Project: Snowblind (Xbox)

from: Eidos

March 11, 2005
Project Snowblind is a solid FPS. It's selling points (bio-mods, pilotable vehicles and fellow NPC soldiers) have been taken straight out of other games, but it doesn't hinder the experience.
A fun, engrossing shooter that should be considered by action fans, especially those who'll enjoy the near-future sci-fi setting.

I have tried so hard to like this game. I would say that stealth games are probably my favourite genre next to first person shooters and with a while to wait before the next (eagerly awaited) MGS game I thought that I should try the Slinter Cell series and OMG have I been disappointed. After going on the net and reading tons and tons of amazing reviews I am left a little confused. I can't believe how bad this game is and how many people seem to love it. There doesn't seem to be any skill involved in it, the control system is cluncky and in-accurate. The enemys seem to have super human abilities and can even see through walls (yes you read that right). There is a level where I closed myself in a room, no guard witnessed me enter but as he strolled past outside he somehow managed to see me hidden behind ... Read More:
