I remember when the first version of this game came out in this form when I was a lad and my mum being quite dismayed that a game she used to play with pencil and paper was now presented by little plastic boats and hit and miss pegs!

Nearly 30 years on from that event, my children and I are still getting plenty of enjoyment out of this game and I would heartily recommend this as a great addition to the games cupboard for the whole family.

Regular Tri-ominos

a portable fun game for boys and girls who can count.
you have so many trimonoes at the start of the game and haev to match the numbers at the edges to ones already down. You then add the totals. I f you can't go you can buy stock from the "bank" but at a cost.
Even my 4 year old has a pretty good go at it.

Uno Card Game

This was very easy to learn, although we did have to refer to the instructions a few times during the first few games as we were unsure about how to play the action cards.

It is quite an addictive games, especially as just as you think you are about to win, along comes a "pick up 4 cards" card...but fun rather than frustrating as it did not go on and on as some games like this can. I would recommend this for any journey or family afternoon together as I am sure my 7 and 4 year old could play with help.

This is ( in my opinion ) one of the greatest board games ever. It is so enjoyable and it is very educational because you really have to strain your brain if you want to do well. I reccomend this and Monopoly as the two greatest board games.

The game is played like this, somebody has been murdered and each player gets a group of cards and then 3 unknown cards are put in a package in the middle. The aim is to find out what those cards are, they must be a person, a weapon, and the room the murder was commited in. At the players turn he/she rolls the dice and then can go into one of the rooms, they can then say, for example 'I suspect colonel mustard, in the drawing room, with the candle stick', the room they say must be the room they are ... Othello

I have still got this game from when they first came out years ago .And i am glad that they are remaking them, as i was able to buy my niece one for her birthday. she really enjoys playing, and at the age of six learnt the rules real quick .would recommend it to others, it is an easy game to play for all ages.

Scrabble Original

This might call itself Scrabble Original, but it isn't. The Scrabble sets I played on as a lad all had wee holes in the board and pegs on the tiles so that the game wouldn't be ruined by the slightest knock. Sadly no more. It also comes in a stupidly huge box to make storage unnecessarily awkward. Disappointing.

Rush Hour Traffic Jam Puzzle

Bought this for my son for christmas. Thought it might be too difficult for him as he wasn't 5 until end Jan. However after only a little while he could easily do the beginners section! He really enjoys the game and concentrates quite hard whilst doing it! Great game would highly recommend!

Invented in Romania in 1940, Rummikub is essentially a tile version of the traditional card game Rummy. It didn't really make it internationally until the 1970s, but by 1980 it had won a string of awards and established itself as a great family game.

Bop It Extreme 2

Ok, buy it as a Christmas present for some kid if you really want to. But why not buy it for yourself? It's utterly brilliant! It's brings out the competitive side in a really fun way and is a great reflexes game that doesn't injure anyone.
Am I saying this because I beat everyone else with it? Probably.
But still you will love this, it's incredibly durable and there are different ways of playing it for those that learn or use their senses differently.
Now if only it had a mute button so you could play after the kids have gone to bed!
