Take Along Thomas & Friends - Toby

For some reason one of our sons favourites is Toby. This is a great piece and i notice he plays with it a lot. Pity there is no windmill to go with one of the Toby stories (yes i know, like you no doubt...i too am forced to watch them). There is one thing to be aware. this is one of the heavier take along pieces, so if you child is prone to the odd mood to rocket launch toys, you would be advised to steer clear of this, its about double the weight of a normal take along train. the colouring, painting and moulding is spot on on realism.

Take Along Thomas - Bridge Accessory Pack

Please note, this comes with a new style track that is not compatible with the older (2005) Take along Thomas sets like the engine shed. These newer style track packs come with adapters to allow them to be joined but only 2 per pack. This means both bridges have to be linked and you cannot use the trestles unless you have extra track in the new style.

Take Along Thomas & Friends - Work & Play Engine Shed Playset

I bought this shed and play set for my son twelve months ago when he turned three. He absolutely loved it then and still does now. He's a normal lively almost four year old now and the shed is still going strong (not one of the doors have come off) and looks like new where many of his other things have long gone. The track supplied is the older thicker plastic type that stays together better than the new... but as many of the newer sets have connection pieces of track with them, it can join onto any set.

The front slides forward to show a working turntable with some finishing touches. Very occasionally my boy pulls the tray out too far when he pulls quite hard, but it goes back easily with my help and no bits of plastic have broken ... Read More:

I cannot rate these little trains high enough!! They are beautifully made and easy to fit together as they now have magnets on. They are durable and withstand plenty of throwing about by my two year old. He also has a wooden thomas track but much prefers his take-along-trains which he does always make sure he has at least one with on his travels!! I feel the toy helps hugely with his imaginative play he also knew all the trains names before his 2nd Birthday. He is slightly obsessed!!! Fab toy recommend to any little boy or girl who loves cars and trains. Well worth the money as will last for years to come.

Take Along Thomas and Friends Working Hard Set

we ordered this set in April 2008 as we liked the bridge and layout shown,but the set we received had a different layout to the picture(can now see correct photo is now shown, Sept 08);the track bridge consisted of 2 supports which didn't hold the track up for long once it started being played with!we sent it back for a refund as there were also a couple of faults with our set.
it looked a fun set,and the track does snap together well,and the track layout size is good value for money.
we now have a wooden set though which we prefer.

Take Along Thomas - Switch and Cross Track Pack

Please note, these are switches (points to UK readers) in a new style track that is not compatible with the older (2005) Take along Thomas sets like the engine shed. The new style track packs and playsets like the water tower come with adapters to allow them to be joined but only 2 per pack. As this Switch set has numerous pieces, it will be of limited use until the manufacturer brings out additional track packs in the new style! The older additional track packs and play sets will not work with these bits.

Take Along Thomas & Friends - Clarabel

I bought Thomas, James, Annie, Clarabel and a Troublesome Truck for my 3 year old Nephew. He is having great fun with them even though they are not compatible with his Brio track. The Amazon website does not explain this. Only one side runs in the track, the other side runs over the 'sleepers' if there were any. He still finds it great fun but I wonder what will happen when he is older and realises the problem. We will probably buy some Learning Curve track for Christmas so that he can run Thomas and friends on their own track, going under bridges on the Brio. He can pretend its the island of Sodor.
