Sony 60min Premium MiniDV Tape - 5 Pack

Always use these tapes for my Sony Camcorder. Never had a problem and they are great value when bought from Amazon when you compare with high street prices.

These Sony cassettes are of superb quality and the price is absolutely fantastic. I have literally stopped copying data into the hard disk and keep these cassttes instead (soon I might have a heap of them!!)
Fully recommended for the camcorders that use these tapes.

Belkin Firewire Cable 6pin-4pin (1.8m)

Cable turned up very promptly, and the item is in 'new condition' as described. Packaging is average, item isn't supplied boxed it comes in a clear plastic sealed bag. Item is NOT branded Belkin... It's branded 'Value' and made in china also, and more importantly, it doesn't look like the cable in the picture! It's a flat matt grey colour with grey coloured connectors, not semi-clear connectors as the picture shows. The cable is also a matt grey colour not with metallic braiding showing through a clear cable sheath, as the picture shows. However, the cable is remarkably cheap and provided it works (I haven't tested it yet) then i'll be reasonably pleased. Overall a fair product for the money.

The camera is cheap, the zoom is impressive but the picture quality is not. Good to give to your six year old kid so 2 stars.

Read all the reviews first and then went for it. Delivery was prompt and painless. Tried out the recorder and thought it was well worth the money.I was greatly impressed with the 40plus telephoto lens and the image stabiliser both were excellent.But do get a firewire cable to download your video to your hard disk.The fact that Sony didn't include it didn't bother me.I had to pay about £4 for one and it works well.As I am not planning to go for an Oscar anytime soon, I'm happy with it.
So my advice? Go on--you know you want to!

Sony NP-FH50 Infolithium H Series Camcorder Battery

Just bought a Sony HC53E Camcorder. Very annoyingly my old, identical looking, same 7.2v, Sony NP-FP Camcorder batteries from my previous defunct model [Sony HC22E] don't fit this new HC53E camcorder though, thanks to a few mm more plastic on the base lugs and Sony's new [anti-copying] info-lithium chip. Trim the old NP-FPs to fit in the HC-53Es NP-FH slot and the camera says 'incompatible battery' - i.e. it's got an old style info-chip, even though it is a Sony battery of the right shape, voltage and power. So I had to buy one of these `genuine' Sony NP-FH50 as a spare battery [it's the same physical size as the NP-FH30 supplied with the camera, but with a tad more power reserve].

Belkin IEEE 1394 Firewire Cable 6pin-4pin (1.8mtr)

Cable turned up quite promptly, the item seems in 'new condition' as described. Packaging is average, item isn't supplied "boxed" as described, it came in half clear box, inside a jiffy bag. Item is NOT branded Belkin...I wish Amazon rectified this with the seller (there are several sellers on the amazon site advertising brand names for their products when they ARE NOT). If it is NOT a Belkin it should NOT be sold as a Belkin (this is just NOT right). It's branded 'Azona' and more importantly, it doesn't look like the cable in the picture! Sony LCS-VAD9 Softcase For DV & DVD

I needed a reasonable case to carry my DCR-SR55E around in, but didn't want to pay the earth. This is a Sony branded case which fits most of today's small format camcorders quite snugly. It has the main compartment for the camera, and perhaps a cable or two, which has a double zip fastening and a Velcro fastening pocket which really doesn't hold very much at all! A spare battery or other small item. It has one adjustable strap which goes over the shoulder.

Lightly padded, it offers a degree of protection to the contents. If you just need to travel light, and don't need to carry a lot of accessories, this case could be just the job for you. If you need more space then you'd better look elsewhere!

Western Digital My Book Essential 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive

I got my 1tb My Book on Monday, it lasted a whole day and then started smelling of burnt electronics. Contacted Amazon, they were excellent and sent me a replacement Thursday, started it up, backed up some files. Got home backed up some more files from home pc then suddenly it died. It lasted 8 hours.

Thankfully Amazon seem really good about replacing dodgy products but why stock them in the first place.
